Slovakia's second goal was on Sanderson. Could have cleared the zone but put it right on the defenseman's stick.

So he’s not James Patrick?  Wasn’t a good clearing attempt but that play wasn’t all on him.

USA is a better team with Kleven playing.

When he is on the ice the other team knows it and they keep their head on a swivel....I could see them wanting to get Skinner a game against a team they thought they would handle but was surprised that he dressed for Kleven instead of LaCombe. LaCombe has been our least effective D in every game he has played. Didn't matter to much as neither LaCombe or Skinner played until the final 2 minutes after we got the empty net goal.

Agreed.  Their d core as a whole was off last night.  Misplays at the blue line, poor clearances, poor gaps.

The IIHF goes out of its way to punish physical play, but he is needed in the lineup.

What a tournament for Germany.  Tough start, but showed up when they had all able bodies and competed.

If we could "wish" a game right now GER v. SWE would be intriguing.

Canada vs. Russia

USA vs. Finland

Going to need a much better performance against Finland.  The quarterfinal round is always an interesting one, all four games ended up close.

If USA plays against FIN like they did against SVK they'll get run right out of not just Edmonton, but Alberta.

He's the only USA forward with negative on his plus-minus stats.

All the skill in the world with the puck on his stick.  Elite hands and elite release.

Then when he doesn't have it and he has to play defense....:whistling:

Some guys play offense and defense and some guys play offense and "waiting to be on offense"

People questioned James Patrick the first half of his freshman season, and he didn’t accelerate to play a year early in college.

Sanderson could've made a better choice. (He had more time than he realized.) But, the forward didn't do much to help the clearing attempt nor did they do much to stop the shot-pass. And the other defenseman was late getting over to the man who made the tip.

That will assuredly be a film room conversation.

Sanderson has just been ok....that's fine he's an 18 year old.  Kleven needs to be in tonights game.

Sanderson's "just OK" is consistently getting him top four minutes.

That's OK. ;)

There are times Askarov is really good and times he's really bad.  The latter showed up, but credit to Canada of course for their effort thus far.
