The Sicatoka
From "The Tweeter": Quote Denver is scratching Henrik Borgstrom, Troy Terry, Will Butcher, Dylan Gambrell, Adam Plant and Tanner Jaillet for the third-place game. Why didn't Montgomery just leave a note and a package on their bench: Dear Coach Murray and WMU, We put correct postage on it. Could you guys drop this into a postal slot on your way to the airport? Yup, mail it in for us. Thanks. Signed, DU PS - Congrats on the NCAA 1-seed.

They won't get a number 1 seed now lol. But seriously. Hopefully western lights them up.

No. Top 3 overall slots are locks for DU, UMD, and Harvard in some order. With a win, WMU locks the fourth #1 seed. http://collegehockeyranked.com/forecast/pwrtournament/

nodakvindy
Wonder if they look at dropping the 3rd place game. Doesn't make a lot of sense for a tournament that exists to award the autobid. Have to think the financial impact would be negligible.
siouxweet
No chance Western ends up in Fargo as a 1 seed. They will be in Cincinnati. Maybe this is DU strategy to get a shot at UND again.

Wilbur
1-0 Denver. Their other players are good too I guess.

Except they can charge more for the ticket packages by having the "extra" game. Not a fan of 3rd place game personally.

The Sicatoka
I'm not sure WMU's style of play will pass muster with officials from other conferences.

siouxweet
Would there be all this outcry to eliminate the third place game if UND would have lost last night and needed a win today to advance?

I would still say same. You are eliminated from winning the tournament so there is no reason for the game. It exists for financial reasons. But I think those are minimal. Cbs clearly doesn't value it either.
