UND blew up a building for NDSU and charged them $483.62.

That's what I got out of it.

Payable to the moo u foundation apparently. We'd double their endowment overnight.

Everyone's funding was cut. Kelley was a terrible president who put UND in a terrible position and now we're paying for it. We'll get through and come out stronger positioned in the long run.

Well I think it was more of a structural issue due to poor engineering work done prior to excavation that an explosion. You must have it confused with Dunbar Hall, which supposedly could possibly explode at any time due to the huge amount of deferred maintance that was caused by funds being direct elsewhere.

Yes you do. I see things differently than most on this board and it frustrates me. I think we're getting downsized so others can supersize.

All the things UND supporters  have bragged about  higher enrollment ,nicer -prettier campus , The Flagship U, have been heard in Fargo for decades. iIt's all changing. When are we going to see a new medical and law school in Fargo-Jamestown College.  School of Science -Fargo. There is a  well thought out plan in Fargo and you can see it taking shape.

Jamestown is a private school.  Not state funded.

How about this...either give specifics about why you think Kelley was "terrible," or take the high road and say that he was an honorable man whose tenure was marked by several years of unimaginable prosperity and largesse in the state followed by an abrupt--if entirely foreseeable--economic reversal, and that we all must concede there is no blueprint for success under those circumstances.  If you're going to measure his legacy by finances alone (which seems unfortunate), I hope you'd be prepared to discuss specific expenditures and missed savings opportunities and their direct, causative effect on UND's current situation.

If I could interject here and put my two cents in. To me the financials aside his leadership was ONE of things I thought he lacked. Allowing departments to run amuck with no direction. Case in point would be the whole EERC debacle. He sudpends/fires a guy by email while having the cops escort him out after giving a positive review of the guy just months before. I'm not saying the guy shouldn't have been fired cause it looked like the guy had been a problem for awhile. Kelley put his head in the sand until the situation got out of hand and then still didn't take a hands on approach. He had other people do his dirty work while he hid in the background.

The ability to deal with and manage difficult personalities is something great leaders possess. Kelley greatly lacked in this department. That's just one reason I didn't like Kelley. Not saying he's not a good person, just not a great leader. I'm sure UNDBIZ has some other specific reasons as well.

Gerald Groenwald was politlely asked to take EERC to Bisnarck. He politlely declined. Fate  sealed.
