hoops44
328. North Dakota: We can't in good conscience rank a team without a nickname highly. Especially in a league that looks relatively deep this year. 351 teams rated.
darell1976
Preseason polls basically go off of last year's record especially those that know nothing about schools that aren't a "major". After what this team did in Europe I think they will be better this year.
UNDhoops
too low, but i can't blame them for not really caring or trying
Sioux Fanatic
The team needs to win some games. Would be great to get a couple wins early so people will show up at the games and give some support. Otherwise it will be a tough year. sioux24/7
I have mixed feelings about the year. I obviously want us to succeed but part of me wants us to struggle so we can get a new staff in here. Is that bad of me? I just feel it will be better for us in the long run. bincitysioux
I'm not surprised. We were horrible last year. The results of the EuroTrip were nice and I hear a lot of hype about some of the additions, but until I see them play a few games, I'm not overly optimistic. dakotadan
The eternal optimistic fan in me wants the team to tear it up this season and go on a crazy run. BUT, the fan in me also feels like this \/ I have mixed feelings about the year. I obviously want us to succeed but part of me wants us to struggle so we can get a new staff in here. Is that bad of me? I just feel it will be better for us in the long run. But I guess if the team does do great this year my view of the coaching staff will likely change (some). I just hope that even if the team does do well this season that Faison doesn't do his typical automatic contract extension. Hopefully he has learned his lesson after Mussman and holds off with the extensions.
CMSioux
100% meaningless as we all know - I'm not expecting miracle on the hardwood but you have to like the talented youth on this team. That youth probably means we will be faced with another year where the primary focus for some will be playing AD and trashing the staff. jdub27
To be expected with what UND has returning for production but I'll take them finishing much better than that with zero hesitation. Q is a conference POY candidate. Baldwin and especially Bernstine seem ready to step in and fill the points that graduated/left. Shanks and Cashman have another year under their belt and will give UND a very solid inside presence. If Geno is anything near as advertised, this team could make some noise. Not sure who is or isn't redshirting but guessing Seales plays right away. I don't think it can be stated enough how huge the overseas trip was for this team, giving them a huge advantage working in the new parts before the season started. Roles are defined and players have bought in. The team chemistry will be very much improved and noticeable. That alone will make a huge difference. This team is going to be fun to watch. Duckies and bunnies until proven otherwise.

Duckies and bunnies until proven otherwise. Have to agree. I believe the national ranking and Big Sky ranking is off. This team has some talent and enough experience to make it dangerous to anyone in the Big Sky. However, as we have seen in the past you need chemistry as much as talent. We had mega talent several years ago, but little chemistry and team play. This team should do well above poll expectations.

Siouxper Slam 29
The Europe trip gave a little bit of hope, but they still have a long ways to go. As long as they don't lose to UM-Morris, Waldorf, or Valley City State, I'll be hopeful; a loss or very close game with any of those teams, and I'm done. niouxsiouxfan
may have talent but very low on experience . Experience is subjective. Many kids have played at high level with their school and AAU program. With some competing and winning their state championships. Would take that experience over the last few years of players that have college playing time (minus couple exceptions). Like these what these guys showed overseas. The unselfishness the team showed overseas, with the ability to fight for a win, and finding the scorer in Hooker (which they needed), is something this team is now building on. Most of the players roles are now defined. They are now working on getting better together and proving the polls wrong.

The quality of experience is subjective. UND returns one of the top 5 and 2 of top 8 scorers from last season and is projected to have zero seniors and one junior is starting 5 therefore LOW on D1 basketball experience

They should believe they're going to beat Bradley. I think what this quote tells us is that they know they have to show up each night and play hard. If they do that they will have a chance to win any game. If they just show up and not play hard, they won't win. I saw some good things in the Wisconsin game and the second half of the Walford game showed that they can play good defense and that offense starts first with a good defense. They better play Defense against NDSU or it could be like last year.
