Dave Hakstol says freshman forward Trevor Olson will replace injured classmate Nick Schmaltz in the lineup tonight.

 

As most expected, my prediction is a 4-2 Sioux win with goals from Parks, Johnson, Schmaltz, and Simonson.

We finally get a player in Nick thats as good as advertized and then he gets injured when we're on an unbeaten streak, wth. Can't the injuries just leave us alone for once! GO SIOUX!!!

North Dakota’s scoring depth will be tested this weekend. Already without the services of senior forward Mark MacMillan (5-2-7 in five games this season), UND freshman phenom Nick Schmaltz (1-7-8 in nine games) sustained an upper body injury against Wisconsin and is not expected to play.

Also, sophomore defenseman Paul LaDue (3-5-8 in eight games) will be out of the lineup this weekend.

I think injuries indicate 3 things:

 

1) The depth of a team.

 

2) Does the team play as a unit or does it rely on a few players?

 

3) Will certain part-time players elevate their game when their team needs them?
