Siouxperfan777
I've seen the question on a bunch of different posts but lets get the speculation started here. Does Bubba hit the ground running today and start hiring his Assistants? Will the DC and the OC come first? Will he hire a recruiting coordinator so they can hit the phones immediately? Who are they gonna be? And when are they getting hired? Bubba's Boys!!!

I think the job opening for Assistants closes the 30th, I assume the Assistants will start being named right after that, unless he has somebody lined up for one of the main jobs already. Hambone
I'm betting that he probably had talked to people about being part of a potential staff when he was named a finalist at the very latest, so he may very well have most of his staff verbally retained. I'm kind of curious if some of the coaches who applied for the HC job actually could be in the pool of assistant coaches, and maybe they threw their hat in the ring to get their names out there. Thinking some of the d2 coaches and the like. I'd really like to see Todd Hoffner on the staff. Not sure if he'd be willing to come in at anything under coordinator, but maybe to get back in the game he would.
Nodak78
I'm thinking Phil Longo (OC at Duluth under Bubba. or Todd Schlafke, QB under Bubba at Duluth. Both have had high scoring offenses as OC's Schmidt for DC
gfhockey
Schmodt is going to be dc No idea on oc...hoping for hoffner or if bubba could throw more cash at deboer to get him here.

Both have had high scoring offenses as OC's Schmidt for DC Phil Longo would be an impressive addition based on experience, but he runs a spread, air raid offense at Slippery Rock.... http://www.rockathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=627 Schlafke would bring in good experience as a position coach possibly. http://m.goleathernecks.com/mobile/ViewArticle.dbml?atclid=205923767&DB_MENU_ID=&SPSID=&SPID=&DB_OEM_ID=12000

Nodak78
I think Bubba with HIS 3-4 defense and Longo spread Big trouble for the Big Sky.
Siouxperfan777
Hearing Hoffner's name being thrown around since the HC job opened up. I don't recognize where he comes from? Anyone give me a brief tidbit on Hoffner?
UNDColorado
Hearing Hoffner's name being thrown around since the HC job opened up. I don't recognize where he comes from? Anyone give me a brief tidbit on Hoffner? Former head coach at Minnesota State. Was released from MSU after bogus child porn charges, Was fully acquitted but still lost everything. Here is the story: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9308806/minnesota-state-mankato-coach-todd-hoffner-career-was-ruined-child-porn-allegation-espn-magazine I think he would be a great addition. ericpnelson
Longo has run more than the air raid offense and successfully, so in my uneducated opinion he looks versatile. Which may be good right away until they get "their guys". Also the air raid siren is a gem of an idea.
gfhockey
Hoffner built peranniel cellar dwellar mankota into a d2 power house very quickly.
homer
My hope is Bubba brings in an O cord that takes control of the offense. Let Bubba and Schmidt fix the defense and I there is potential to fix things quickly. Faison has to let Bubba spend some cash on a quality Offensive coordinator/assistant head coach. You'd have to think Bubba would at least give him a call to gauge his interest. He had a very good running back at SIU that ran for over 1600 yards. He was also the offensive coordinator at South Dakota for two seasons (06 and 07) before being the head coach at Mankato.

Wow....that makes me angry. I hope this guy gets a shot at being apart of the staff and resetting his career. Sounds like he was made to coach and he'd likely give the skin off his back to be coaching again.

Mama Sue
I think this man deserves a second chance. Mankato has been in the basement since I graduated from there in the "mid 70s." Hope he is hired

mksioux
I notice that they still only have one Assistant Coach position posted. You'd think they'd have multiple positions posted by now. Or maybe posting one gives them the authority to hire multiple coaches. I'm not sure how that works.
Siouxperfan777
Is there open records law on this too? Anyway we can see what assistants have applied?

I noticed FU has only two postings for their current openings.
