SiouxVolley Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I believe you can now add Bowling Green State to our schedule on Dec. 28 or 29th. This should complete the schedule. I believe Bowling Green is a MAC school from Ohio. Should be a good game from the MAC. Bowling Green isn't that far from Urbana, Ohio, which is Schuler's home town. Great that they can schedule a game in Bowling Green for Schuler's senior year. Need a game near Buffalo too for Jamal Webb: maybe Niagara, Canisius, or Buffalo. Most of the rest of the scholarship players have had or will have local games. Quote

SiouxVolley Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Maybe there was more to the Texas Tech / Jaron Nash transfer story. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/billy-gillispie-resigns-texas-tech-likely-ending-head-234421321--ncaab.html Viewed through a narrow prism, these incidents might not prevent a risk-taking athletic director intent on making a splash from giving a contrite Gillispie another chance someday. Combine his disastrous Texas Tech tenure with his other transgressions, however, and it's pretty clear that a guy who five years ago was the most coveted coach on the market is now completely unemployable. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8321914/mutiny-texas-tech-coach-billy-gillispie-draws-complaints Texas Tech has experienced a high amount of attrition since the end of Gillispie's first season, as six players from the 2011-12 roster have transferred: Cameron Forte, DeShon Minnis, Jaron Nash, Terran Petteway, Kevin Wagner and Javarez Willis. After his dismissal at Kentucky, stories began to surface about Gillispie's tough love type of coaching tactics. Former Wildcat Josh Harrellson said Gillispie once became so angered that he instructed him to sit in a bathroom stall during a halftime talk at Vanderbilt and then ordered him to ride back to Lexington in the Kentucky equipment truck. There were also complaints about the way Gillispie treated athletic department office types such as secretaries and other administrators. Quote
sioux2013 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Allard grew an inch or two over the summer!!! According to the roster from last year Allard, Schuler and Huff all grew exactly 1 inch. Everyone else shows the same. Interesting! Quote

craw84 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Just an FYI for anyone interested in going to the K-State game in early November...there's about 40 tickets available on stubhub right now...and most are pretty affordable. They're all pretty much on the baselines, but I got tickets 11 rows back for $15 a pop - not too shabby. Quote
twins15 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Any word on how things are going at workouts? Really looking forward to watching this group of guys play. Any predictions on who's going to fill that last starting position after Webb, Anderson, Huff and Brekke? I would have to say Allard, just because he's "been around" and knows the system Any word on how things are going at workouts? Really looking forward to watching this group of guys play. I would have to say Allard, just because he's "been around" and knows the system My guess would be Traylor or Nash... Traylor would seem to be a bit more of a traditional big man, but I am guessing there is a reason that Nash went to a Big 12 school. Both are good options. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 first of many preseason previews. Picks UND 4th http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/big-sky-preview-montana-remains-preseason-favorite-despite-130032975--ncaab.html Included is what could be a MAJOR gamechanger in the Big Sky Quote

Let's hope the NCAA uses logic on this. Quote
NODAK13 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 What position does Nash actually play? I thought he was more of a 3 than a 4 but it seems everyone here has him playing the 4. I really thought Traylor would play the 4 cause he is more of an inside player and bigger body. I thought we actually needed beef in the middle for the Big Sky. Seems to me whenever we played a bigger school we got killed underneath. Quote

SiouxVolley Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Shane Benton may be a starter? That would be a pleasant surprise. Isn't he a 3pt and FT specialist? With the amount of depth, that should really help at high elevation games. NAU,UNC, and ISU are especially bad for altitude. EWU, PSU, and Sac St all being lower elevation locations have never really had basketball success, except for a year or two by PSU. Quote

He averaged less than 10 pts a game so I don't think he is an offensive specialist. As far as starting I don't know who he would start for. I'd say he would be back up at maybe the 3 at best. A lot of returning players that are proven for 2 years and some very good new players that have transferred. Tough line-up to crack. Quote

Dagger Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I am not that familiar. Who would Benton probably be beating out for a starting spot. Quote
UND Fan Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 He sure isn't big enough to play the 4 so it must be the 2 or 3 position and you wouldn't think he we beat out Huff. We actually have been starting two point guards in Anderson and Webb so, if he is truly completing for a starting spot, I would think it would be the 2 with either Webb or Anderson starting at the point.
