zonadub Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Sounds like SiouxVolley was right, but without the Dakota schools (and maybe the FBS thing) Quote

Schools moving conferences is nothing new, the Big Sky was oversized and there isn't a whole lot of options in the west. On top of that, there was plenty of information out there about the WAC being interested in bringing back football at the FCS level. A bunch of "who's that again" moving around and playing at the FCS level is significantly different than a seismic shift of conferences trading Universities and moving up to FBS. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 So the Big Sky becomes the northwest US FCS conference and the WAC becomes the southwest US FCS conference? (The MVFC in the US northern plains FCS conference I guess.) Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 that writer says "massive realignment" for the BSC..is losing suu and or nau, ncu, or someone else "massive" Quote

SWSiouxMN Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 If SUU, NAU do head to the WAC that certainly would tighten up the footprint of the Big Sky. Imagine if Poly and UC Davis took their football to the WAC as well... Quote

Imagine if Poly and UC Davis took their football to the WAC as well... I would think that Sac State, NAU and the Cali affiliate football schools would be prime for the WAC along with NAU. What about Portland State, sitting up there with Seattle (who is somewhat of a WAC outlier)? 1 Quote
zonadub Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Included in the rumors, outside BSC schools are Southland Conference schools like Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian, and ... Augustana (SD). Would be outside the footprint, but gives Augie a DI conference so they can move up. Would this make Augie a travel partner for Chicago State? Is it even remotely possible? 1 Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 so Primetime gets 100K if Jackson States moves to a different conference....assuming they are then trying/auditioning for that conference...what conference would that be? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 21, 2020 Author Posted October 21, 2020 I can't find it right now, but back in the day a western conference commissioner was quoted as saying something like large 14 team conferences aren't all good. You can go to bed with a 14 team conference and wake up with two 7 team conferences. I believe this was about the time of the WAC/MWC shake-ups. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 With all respect to Mark Morrison Return of the WAC Return of the WAC Return of the WAC https://footballscoop.com/news/return-of-the-wac-maybe/ 1 Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 would nau be okay with a wac like that...wouldn't see too much snow again...could help recruting? Quote
zonadub Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 If SUU goes NAU may follow for lower cost travel, but that will be a tougher sell since NAU has been a member of the BSC for 50 years. Controlling costs will become even more important in the Covid future. It might make the Big Sky a northwest FCS alongside the central Summit/MVFC and let the WAC take the Southwest. But the big issue is getting more football schools so the WAC can have a football conference. That is why Southland schools are being brought into the discussion. Without football, the whole thing will fall apart. Quote
