It's like Idaho purposely isn't even trying.  Why try when you know things are arranged for the Big Sky to go FBS?  Trying would screw that up.

FBS is the 85 scholarship level with the "College Football Playoff".   The Big Sky ain't going there now, or ever.    They may go tier 2 if there is ever another championship established at a lower scholarship level, but FBS-85 is not happening for Big Sky.    How you see these recent developments helping your FBS - 85 scholarship pipe dream is surprising to say the least.   All these latest things point to your FBS plans going Poof!!  Sorry, time for a reality check.

According to Sioux Valley, there are 11 public schools that surely must already know that they will be moving to FBS in the near future. Yet there is no evidence that any of those schools are actually preparing for that move. No feasibility studies, no fund-rasing drives, no obviously much larger new facilities on the horizon...

What gives? You'd think someone would have let the cat out of the bag by now.

Chances that Idaho gets expelled from the Sun Belt:  99.9%

Chances that NMSU gets expelled from the Belt:  85%

The P5 will use the Idaho expulsion as a way to show their compassion (but still screw the G5 and reduce P5 expenses).

To bison trolls:  have you seen the Five Phases of Montana States stadium expansion?  Is that why AD Fields was let go because their wasn't enough progress on expansion?

Is there any teams on tap to join the SB in the future? By getting rid of dead weight (UI and NMSU) that's more bowl money for the other teams, and less traveling too.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

Sure.  The P5 conference get out weighted votes.  They can change the system to fit their liking.  There are not adequate lower tier G5 conferences now - only the MAC and Sun Belt.  If they allow conferences with orphan teams to move up to FBS, the P5 will seem generous.  But the main motive is to get cheaper guarantee games as the G5 guarantees based on supply.  Most of the P5 didn't outlaw FCS games without an intent to change the rules.

Idaho in the Big Sky would be the only orphan team in an FCS conference.  UMASS could join the CAA, as it would be a better fit than the MAC, and become an orphan.  NMSU could join the Big Sky, Southland, or the MVC and become an orphan. An FCS conference with an FBS team could be allowed to move up under rules that may be proposed after March 10th.

The two times I've met Fields in Boz, it was below him to be friendly and converse. Didn't appear to have the personality to relate to the average fans

The P5 will start playing only P5 schools it has been brought up because of the playoffs by more then one conference.

Montana is loosing money and enrollment is decreasing. If they are part of your big plan for the Big Sky to go FBS you have another thing coming.

Most likely spent the money for things the school needed more the finishing the stadium expansion. From what I've heard Cruzado is the one that gets the donors to spend their money on Montana State not Fields. It also sounds like Cruzado has high expectations for where athletes should be.

O'Day said it was either FBS or DII.  Guess the Griz are going DII then.

This is an interesting idea to me...it actually does make some sense in theory. More options for guarantee games will certainly create lower prices to secure games because there will be more demand among the smaller schools to get that money. At the same time it gives a lot of the current FCS schools to move up and get those games that can help their athletic department revenue. UND would be able to play Minnesota and get about $1million to do so.

I can definitely see the line of thinking, but I personally don't think it'll happen.

If UND can go FBS, it can sign games with Minnie, Iowa, or Wisconsin and have a home and home, with the Viking Stadiums being the rental home for UND.  Those games wouldn't cost anything for the BIG teams.  The western BIG and northern B12 are at a disadvantage because there is no G5 conference in their footprint.  The Michigan schools and Ohio St feast on MAC schools, which makes attendance and local interest more intense.

I think you have spent too much time on Bisonville; you are just spewing Bison talking points. RPI......UND is a "bottom feeder".....blah, blah, blah. Let me explain this to you: the Slummit is not one of the top mid-major conferences in the country. Not....Even....Close. You are a one-bid league, not the second coming of the MVC (not to be confused with the MVFC). Half the schools in the Slummit want to get out and the other half are there because no one else wants them. I don't want UND in that way-station, hodge-podge of a conference.

If anything, UND would make the Slummit better more than the Slummit would make UND better. Believe that.

Summit Ranking 16 of 34

Big Sky Ranking 27 of 34

OK, but where's the evidence of any planning and due diligence going on at the Big Sky and MVFC schools you are suggesting will soon be moving? Even if Big Sky officials wanted to move up, they could not do so without approval from the schools involve. That approval would require a great deal of work on the part of each of those schools. Until you produce some evidence of that work happening, you're just making stuff up.

NDSU is raising student fees for additional travel aren't they?

I kid, we all know that is for FCOA.
