Not a good case for equal funding with UND. NDSU Pres: We need more money, we should be equally funded with UND; State: check your books..oh wait you have people stealing from your books, try again when you have honest people working the $$$ for your school first then we'll talk.

hats off to the president for nipping this kind of thing in the bud.

Strange that you didn't mention this began happening during Chapman's reign.

Many legislator believe that Chapman winked at such conduct, especially by head of departments that were growing fast.

However you spin it, it doesn't help NDSU's perception with lawmakers that NDSU leaders have been dipping into the til.

Or . . . if your own people are stealing from you, then the state might as well keep stealing from you too.

So tell me, why does this issue have anything to do with the state's unexplicable underfunding of ndsu?

Why should NDSU get more funds if they are going to steal it instead of putting it toward education?

Because the school is underfunded. 'Nough said.

Maybe it is your poor grammar.

Maybe it isn't. Another idea, would save the state a lot of money. Fund UND at NDSU's level. Save quite a bit of money that way.....

He did check the books, that's why someone got fired. Whether NDSU gets more or UND gets less why should't it be the same?

They are funded the same. NDSU and UND are funded the same as their categories of "peer institutions".

Should all schools be funded the same per student? SCSU, UMD, and Minnesota, BSU, UND, and NDSU?

Its all a grand conspiracy to keep NDSU down!!!! :silly:

The North Dakota State University official accused of double-dipping on his expenses also was reimbursed $12,000 for food and alcohol without proper documentation.

A Forum analysis of an internal audit of Gene Griffin shows that he received more than $12,000 in reimbursement for entertainment over the past three years that did not include the names of people he was entertaining or the business purpose.

This I cannot believe!!

Griffin has resigned but is continuing to work for NDSU through Dec. 31 to finish work on specific projects. A separation agreement calls for him to repay NDSU the $6,169.40 he’s accused of double-dipping.

So he steals from NDSU but continues to work there.

Does NDSU want more money so they can give more tuition wavers to increase enrollment?

After a 8.8% tuition increase they don't need more money. Since Uncle Joe left there is no more free tuition wavers which of course means an extreme slow down and loss of enrollment. Thus = a hike in tuition.

Maybe that is the reason that NDSU has such a problem with athletes shoplifting. Maybe the new case from last week was just an athlete trying to help pay for their own scholarship to help the Athletic Department. Do you really believe the ends justifies the means?

I had to laugh when I read that he won't be charged, due in part to the fact that NDSU is letting him continue his job until the end of the year. What kind of a message does that send?

http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/218381/

A North Dakota State University administrator who was fired for pocketing more than $6,000 in extra expense payments won't be charged with a crime, in part because the university is still letting him work there, a prosecutor said Friday.

Griffin is being allowed to continue working at NDSU to avoid jeopardizing some projects, McDaniel said.

"There were some things that were in the works that they wanted to make sure were transitioned, to the benefit of what the whole institute is doing," she said.

If someone in our company was doing what he was doing, he would be gone and his projects/assignments would be distributed to other employees.

The report quotes Griffin as asserting there was nothing wrong with him claiming reimbursements for meals that were already paid for separately.

Griffin "stated that if someone bought him a meal while traveling, he could still claim state per diem for that meal," the report says. "(Griffin) stated that there is no prohibition against it, so you can."

Amazing.

I say move their architecture and pharmacy programs to UND, their ag programs to Dickinson State and close the school down. Then we won't have to hear them complain that they are underfunded.

Move their football team to Minneapolis.

NDSU gives out over $15 million in tuition waivers, whereas UND gives closer to $8 million. Looks to me like NDSU should look at their own practices before crying to the state for more money. Also, UND has the Med School, Law School, and the School of Aviation. These programs are much more expensive than interior design, casino operations, and the other tech school majors NDSU has to offer.

Do they really have this program? If so, I may have to go back to school at the Ag College. That would be an awesome degree to have!

Casino Operator? Why go to NDSU for THAT?!!!??!!??

After all, one of the most successful casino operators from the upper midwest was a Fighting Sioux!

Maybe NDSU really offers something called "blackjack dealer certification"?
