  1. I think UND has the potential to surprise a lot of people next year. Even if the O-line isn't as good, I think the play calling will be better. If we actually run the ball when we are able to, instead of deciding to kill drives by passing on first down, we may see a more consistent offense, and that would help out the Defense as well. We had the talent to beat both Sac and USD. We were up 10 on USD at half, and we stopped USD's first drive in the 3rd Quarter with an interception in our own end zone. What did we do with that, in our first drive of the 3rd quarter? See below. USD then marches down the field again, and this time, they convert for a TD. Now up 10-7 UND gets the ball with 6:50 remaining in the third and they do this: Why pass it on first down from the USD 24 while winning, late in the 3rd, on the road? This drive is the epitome of UND's season last year. Next drive, UND holds USD to a 3 and out. What does UND do? No, even though UND is moving the ball on the ground well, they don't exploit it. Instead, they screw up the next drive with an incomplete pass to Quincy Vaugn on 2nd down, after a 6 yard rush on 1st down. In the 4th Quarter, we handed the ball off to our running backs a total of 1 time. This is the yardage we gained for every running play by a RB in the 2nd half: 3, 4, 19, 4, 6, 3, 7. The shortest rush was 3 yards. With that consistency, we still managed to give up a 10 point first half lead. Scored nothing in the 2nd half. Maybe I'm wrong - I never played FB and I don't truly know the game like others here, but I've gotta think that a change at OC may more than make up for the guys we lost on the O-Line this year. Thoughts?
  2. Looks like CBSSN will not be involved in the next Big East contract. Hopefully that helps the Summit and maybe the NCHC get some more games on TV.
  3. Have there been any updates on this? https://www.startribune.com/xcel-university-north-dakota-hydrogen-heartland-hub-federal-tax-credit-environmental/600358098/ Xcel, UND say Midwest hydrogen 'hub' at risk from tax credit rules A $1 billion federal grant could be in limbo in part because of limits on when companies can receive a hydrogen production tax credit for using nuclear and wind to create hydrogen. 4. Interesting. Thanks. This is from last August, about the Harrington hall renovations/plan. Some interesting info. https://blogs.und.edu/und-today/2023/08/a-new-direction-for-harrington-hall/
  5. This seems like a big deal... New research centers at UND. To be discussed at ndus meeting tomorrow.
  6. Looks like Colorado State 11/4. https://d1docket.blogspot.com/p/2024-25-dockets-midwest-leagues.html
  7. 247 doesn't show Seth Staloch's USD offer or Zach Schemper's UST or Drake offers. If we had better recruits I'm confident there would be more examples. I didn't check them all, but that's at least 3 guys out of the 8 commits that 247 has listed, with missing offers. Not a great percentage for 247.
  8. Hit and miss. They often don't update pages for FCS commits. UND has had multiple recruits with 247 profiles over the years that have committed without the 247 ever updating their profiles to reflect that. If they can't even do that, It's hard for me to credit them as a reliable source for other offers. That doesn't necessarily mean their info is always wrong or anything, but it's often incomplete. For example: https://247sports.com/Player/clayton-bishop-46100621/ https://247sports.com/Player/jerry-kaminski-46118650/
  9. Please don't put words in my mouth.
  10. Still can't believe we fumbled Freund away to another FCS school.
  11. I can't get over the AHA's new logo and how similar it is to a large adult hockey league in MN...
  12. Is it still possible to mute people? Serious question - I can't figure it out.
  13. This is interesting, considering SDSU (San Diego) was rumored to be conducting a d1 feasibility study at the time. SDSU Hides Proposal for Free Sports Arena in Mission Valley San Diego State University officials received a proposal in 2022 to build a new sports arena within the Mission Valley development at no cost to the public but have kept the offer under wraps even as the City of San Diego is currently negotiating to develop a similar facility at the existing Sports Arena site. SDSU President Adela de la Torre, the University’s Athletic Director, and several prominent San Diegans flew to Texas on a private jet in May 2022 to tour the Moody Center at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) at the invitation of the company that led the development project. Sources confirmed to La Prensa San Diego that SDSU received the proposal from Oak View Group, a Denver-based venue operator that bills itself as “the largest developer of sports and entertainment venues in the world.” But sometime after the May 2022 trip, SDSU officials decided to keep the offer secret. Others who participated in the trip to Austin included CSU Trustees Jack McGrory and Adam Day, local business leader David Malcolm, and SDSU’s Vice-President for University Relations and Development, Adrienne Vargas. Oak View Group developed Austin’s 15,000-seat Moody Center through a partnership with UTA where the developer assumed all of the cost and risk of construction and management of the arena and the venue became the home of the University’s basketball team without any investment by UTA.
  14. They need to all just move back to ACHA!
  15. Speaking of the Alaskas, I think Simon Fraser is going to eventually move D1 once their athletic department gets restructured. I'm curious if they would have an NIL advantage with Canadian players. Also if the CHL eligibility thing happens, I'd think they would be a fairly popular destination.
  16. This could be huge for the summit league if it gets passed. (I cropped out a page or two here)
  17. I don't know anything more than you, but your description is how I understand it to be. I think scholarships are a line item expense that are treated the same as any other expense. Like you, I guess, I would be curious to know what the budgeting process for UND athletics looks like - is there a set formula, or does funding from the university fluctuate based on need and/or the opinion of the president (and by how much)? There's probably a written policy somewhere. In either case, given that a large portion of the athletics budget is paid for through general funds from the university, the larger the endowments for athletics are, the more flexibility the school has to do things like funding for Alston awards, for example. The picture below from the 22-23 champions club membership guide provides some basic info about this topic.
  18. From materials packet for TSU's board of trustees meeting tomorrow...
  19. Should be all over the news imo.
  20. Thanks for the links. Some interesting quotes. Seems like this is based on negotiations between the usage agreement between the medical school building itself and the school? “The university has negotiated with [NHBAC] in good faith to reach an agreement that is acceptable to all sides,” he said. “We are disappointed by the announcement by the Engelstad Foundation but disagree with the characterization of facts from what has been a difficult negotiation. We remain ever grateful to the Engelstad Foundation for their contributions over the years to UNLV.” This article may shed some light on that. https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/breaking-down-the-plan-to-build-unlvs-long-awaited-medical-school-building But for Engelstad McGarry — who had long been a vocal supporter of ousted President Jessup — part of the calculus behind the creation of the development corporation was the ability to side-step the existing institutional apparatus that, in her view, had so far strangled previous attempts at a medical school. “For me, it became a matter of thinking around excluding [university leadership] in every way,” Engelstad McGarry said. “Because it didn't appear that they wanted to partner with us, at least not in a way that we could do.”
  21. Really a bummer for UNLV club hockey if they stop donating to that program. The Engelstad foundation was giving them at least 200k, annually, for some time now.
  22. Speaking of the Engelstad Foundation, this letter on their website is pretty interesting.. https://engelstadfoundation.com/esf/grant-application/
  23. Anyone know how to track construction at the air force base? Are there permits or anything like that listed anywhere? Seems like the air force base and grand sky are legitimately becoming a pretty big deal.
  24. Really wish basketball would play more games at the REA, as was originally intended. I thought it would happen once the Womens team left.
