This was an issue when I was in school (for me). I think Chaves said on his podcast that the 1:00 game was a request/demand when the contract for the game was signed, so hopefully they try to plan a later kick for future openers. Anyway, **lightbulb** the reason for my post is that perhaps this could be a good cause for looking into some type waterfoul/hunting promotion, aimed at getting more hunters to the game. Maybe give people with waterfoul stamps a free beer, or do something camo related, etc. Could maybe lead to a sponsorship of some sort with ND Tourism, Cabelas, or some other company within the industry. Just voicing a random thought. sorry.

Is that the first time we've had a goalie with True pads? I'm pretty sure CCM's offer was the winner when UND put the RFP out for the new jersey supplier. I submitted a FOIA request for the new contract and they told me, a couple weeks ago, that the contract hadn't been signed yet: "The other contract is not finalized and signed yet, in other words, not fully executable. Negotiations are ongoing with the successful bidder. Once there is a signed agreement, we can share it with you". I wonder if negotiations fell through, or if the ongoing sale of CCM through a wrench into things and caused a delay?

Its a good sign that hes still on the roster at least, right?

Would be cool if UND got a decible meter and somehow connected it to the scoreboard. Like a pitch speed board in baseball for example... always displayed. Would maybe help to encourage crowd noise.

I think NDSU would be pumped to separate themselves from UND again though wouldn't they?
-
Glad to hear that. Maine, Vermont, ND, Montana, Alaska, Delaware, Rhode Island should all join. Or at least senators from states without p5 schools should work to pass some bipartisan legislation on this.

I love SCSU broadcasts. Not that they're necessasarily trying to be, but I think the guys are legitimately funny. Clown show!

USD and Sack would have been wins imo. Boise would have been way closer as well.

Last time we played them at the Alerus we were coming off a big win vs #5 SHSU. Pretty sure the home team in this series has never won.

Agreed. They also need to find a legitimate architect with hockey experience. Really bothers me that the school doesn't seem to be helping... even as part of like a recreation facility standpoint. Community support for anything hockey outside our region is pathetic. Not too far down the road is North Carolina State, where the Hurricanes are investing 300 million into PNC arena. It's really sad that the school and the Canes don't seem to be interested in adding an extra sheet of ice for the club program (and the community) as part of that plan. They do appear to be adding a 4,300 seat ballroom/concert venue, however! That would be a perfect size for the club team and they could still use it for concerts... https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/wake-county-news/new-ideas-revealed-for-pnc-arena-multi-million-dollar-renovation-plan/ Edit: make that 5,00 seats. In addition to upgrades, Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon has separate plans to develop a sports and entertainment district around the arena; containing a 5,000-seat music venue, stores, offices, a hotel and rental homes, including affordable housing options. In an agreement with the Centennial Authority, Dundon said he would invest up to $800 million into the development. Rec Sports Master Plan doesn't even mention hockey - hopefully that changes at some point with the success of the Hurricanes and growth of the club programs in the region. https://facilities.ofa.ncsu.edu/files/2015/04/Recreational-Sports-Master-Plan-Update-2014.pdf

Will Midco be broadcasting UND home hockey games this next season?
nodak651 replied to Stack's topic in Men's Hockey
I agree for the most part. I just think Midco is missing out on people from DU, Omaha, and UND who maybe don't currently have Midco Sports Plus, but would purchase it if there was additional value - CCHA content in addition to Summit League could maybe get some people over the fence and it could help drive subscription growth. Other than St. Thomas, there isn't a whole lot of overlap with the teams involved, so I don't think there is much of an opportunity cost in providing better discounts for a bundle that includes both leagues. Just my opinion. Biggest issue is obviously the price point, and the contracts/revenue sharing agreements between Midco and each league - if Midco weren't required to distribute any additional money, based on subscription numbers or revenue, this would be easier to implement, but I'm pretty sure at least the Summit League get's additional money if certain milestones are met. In such a scenario there is also the question of determining how bundled revenue would be allocated between the two conferences. Perhaps the next contracts can be improved, and better bundling packages can be implemented once Midco gathers more viewership data from the current contracts. -

Midco had a huge opportunity but I think they whiffed on this one. Not only is the CCHA content not bundled with existing content, but there is hardly any discount if you subscribe to both. Guessing there are a lot of UND, DU, and Omaha fans who would pull the trigger if they had access to both leagues, but who will not buy either individually, or at the price point of the "all-in" bundle. -
Agreed. I'd have guessed more to be honest.
