Please don't put words in my mouth.

Still can't believe we fumbled Freund away to another FCS school.

Is it still possible to mute people? Serious question - I can't figure it out.

This is interesting, considering SDSU (San Diego) was rumored to be conducting a d1 feasibility study at the time. SDSU Hides Proposal for Free Sports Arena in Mission Valley San Diego State University officials received a proposal in 2022 to build a new sports arena within the Mission Valley development at no cost to the public but have kept the offer under wraps even as the City of San Diego is currently negotiating to develop a similar facility at the existing Sports Arena site. SDSU President Adela de la Torre, the University’s Athletic Director, and several prominent San Diegans flew to Texas on a private jet in May 2022 to tour the Moody Center at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) at the invitation of the company that led the development project. Sources confirmed to La Prensa San Diego that SDSU received the proposal from Oak View Group, a Denver-based venue operator that bills itself as “the largest developer of sports and entertainment venues in the world.” But sometime after the May 2022 trip, SDSU officials decided to keep the offer secret. Others who participated in the trip to Austin included CSU Trustees Jack McGrory and Adam Day, local business leader David Malcolm, and SDSU’s Vice-President for University Relations and Development, Adrienne Vargas. Oak View Group developed Austin’s 15,000-seat Moody Center through a partnership with UTA where the developer assumed all of the cost and risk of construction and management of the arena and the venue became the home of the University’s basketball team without any investment by UTA.

They need to all just move back to ACHA!

Speaking of the Alaskas, I think Simon Fraser is going to eventually move D1 once their athletic department gets restructured. I'm curious if they would have an NIL advantage with Canadian players. Also if the CHL eligibility thing happens, I'd think they would be a fairly popular destination.

I don't know anything more than you, but your description is how I understand it to be. I think scholarships are a line item expense that are treated the same as any other expense. Like you, I guess, I would be curious to know what the budgeting process for UND athletics looks like - is there a set formula, or does funding from the university fluctuate based on need and/or the opinion of the president (and by how much)? There's probably a written policy somewhere. In either case, given that a large portion of the athletics budget is paid for through general funds from the university, the larger the endowments for athletics are, the more flexibility the school has to do things like funding for Alston awards, for example. The picture below from the 22-23 champions club membership guide provides some basic info about this topic.

Should be all over the news imo.

Thanks for the links. Some interesting quotes. Seems like this is based on negotiations between the usage agreement between the medical school building itself and the school? “The university has negotiated with [NHBAC] in good faith to reach an agreement that is acceptable to all sides,” he said. “We are disappointed by the announcement by the Engelstad Foundation but disagree with the characterization of facts from what has been a difficult negotiation. We remain ever grateful to the Engelstad Foundation for their contributions over the years to UNLV.” This article may shed some light on that. https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/breaking-down-the-plan-to-build-unlvs-long-awaited-medical-school-building But for Engelstad McGarry — who had long been a vocal supporter of ousted President Jessup — part of the calculus behind the creation of the development corporation was the ability to side-step the existing institutional apparatus that, in her view, had so far strangled previous attempts at a medical school. “For me, it became a matter of thinking around excluding [university leadership] in every way,” Engelstad McGarry said. “Because it didn't appear that they wanted to partner with us, at least not in a way that we could do.”

Really a bummer for UNLV club hockey if they stop donating to that program. The Engelstad foundation was giving them at least 200k, annually, for some time now.

Speaking of the Engelstad Foundation, this letter on their website is pretty interesting.. https://engelstadfoundation.com/esf/grant-application/

Anyone know how to track construction at the air force base? Are there permits or anything like that listed anywhere? Seems like the air force base and grand sky are legitimately becoming a pretty big deal.

Really wish basketball would play more games at the REA, as was originally intended. I thought it would happen once the Womens team left.
-
Isn't this similar to the Kansas game? Maybe the REA sold their basketball court.

Great to hear! I think we were actually the only FCS game on FS1 last year.

This data doesn't seem to have updated 2023 data for UND or NDSU. In 2023, UND FB was up to $6,016,711 and NDSU was $6,405,716. Looks like Knightnewhouse just carried their 2022 info over to 2023 for some of the FCS schools.

Could see that one happening.

Have any insight on him?

This is interesting. MVC just got paid for Loyola's Final Four run for the last time. How much more will the MVC be paying towards the House vs NCAA settlement than UND? My understanding is that will be based on historical results. MVC better hope they can start generating multiple units per year again because they seem to be trending towards parity in the SL in terms of both NCAA tournament revenue and conference tournament attendance/revenue. Really Really Really hoping that the Summit can hang on to all of it's members over the next couple years. I'm curious to see if Illinois State decides to push for a MAC invite - somewhat of a long shot, but in all reality, they would be a great fit. Summit could then add FB, maybe Iniana State drops FB, and potentially the Summit League could then grab UNI if stars align. That said, it seems that there will be tons of change over the next few years months, so speculation that far into the future prob isn't worth the time.

That's kinda the point. Mankato without FB would be great. If the Summit adds Hockey and Mankato, it would have the numbers in other sports so it wouldn't HAVE to take the Utah schools in order to survive. The league would be stable.
