  1. They better. Otherwise its a waste of scholarships that could be used for a QB.
  2. Is anyone for the NCHC tourney being in the twin cities every year but against the basketball tourney in Sioux Falls?
  3. The simple answer is we are not at the level that we need to be, recruiting wise. We need phase 2 in order to be competitive with the top of fcs recruiting.
  4. If thats the case, how could you explain ndsu recruits getting on average, way more offers?
  5. 6' 3" 247 lb inside linebacker... could have used him this year! http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/jaylen_waters_950241.html
  6. Sure. Lets use your own rules. Sioux Falls is the biggest city that has a quality arena near the geographic center of the conference. Sioux Falls also isn't host to any campus of any of the colleges in the conference. Seems like a logical location to me if you don't think a fanbase/program "should in no way have have any sort of factor in determining a conference tournament location."
  7. Best place for football is next to the practice facility. Let them practice and play games out of the same locker room for home games. Closer to the frats and campus.
  8. Yeah, I like the idea of Sioux Falls as well. UND fans can't really complain too much because the same arena is already half sold out (by UND fans) for the hockey regional that will be played there, so we already know that UND fans can get there if they have the desire. I'm happy that there will actually be people there. Coming from the big sky, the bar is pretty low as far as conference tournaments are concerned.
  9. They broke ground on this last month, so it is officially being built. Expected to be completed in only 8 months. New article -> https://www.bizjournals.com/washington/news/2017/10/24/lace-up-leesburg-heres-when-the-regions-largest.html
  10. Looks like they actually have a pretty nice set up there. They are averaging about 5,000 a game.
  11. This. Not to mention the difference in noise and intensity. A sold out betty is electric.
  12. It would be really easy to add a basic practice court or two north of the Betty, in the parking lot.
  13. They Betty has potential. Double the size of the end bleachers and seating will grow by 500 to 3,800. UND should be playing their games at they Betty. If they played only one or two games at the Ralph, those would be the only games casual fans would ever go to, and I think it could actually hurt Betty attendance.
  14. ...and I jynxed them. Wichita scores five within like ten seconds of me flipping the game on. Were up 8, now 2.
  15. Wow upset alert. Sdsu up on #6 wichita with 8:00 to go on espn3.
  16. Avants is an absolute stud. Wish we had another big(ish) like him.
  17. Yes. Might find a decent stream here - also might get a virus.
  18. Funny how you say that, but ... "The academic success of NCAA Division I men’s hockey players continues to set the standard across college sports, with hockey leading all men’s sports with at least 50 teams in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the fourth straight year. Men’s hockey’s four-year average APR score of 986 from 2012-16 is five points above the NCAA average and edged golf (984) and tennis (981) among Division I sports with at least 50 teams nationwide. Men’s hockey’s single-year APR score for 2015-16 of 984 also led all men’s sports with 50 or more programs." http://collegehockeyinc.com/articles/2017/05/mens-hockey-leads-ncaas-apr-again.php
  19. Wasn't there a bison fan on siouxsports recently that was saying UND did this to his friend? How ironic.
  20. I disagree - the exposure of playing MN in Minneapolis during the NCAA tourney is huge for recruiting. Tons of talent coming out of the Twin Cities.
  21. I think und was just worn out down the last stretch of the season. Did we play more games than anyone in the country? After a full week (or two?) of rest, the girls will look good and play with energy tonight! I hope.
  22. Basically I think it would be helpful if UND Academics and UND Athletics (overall AD issues) were somehow included in the titles of "Community" and "NCAA News", or if they had a dedicated topic. Edit: General AD issues are also discussed in "other sports", but logically, other sports means sports that don't have dedicated topics, such as track and field and softball. Maybe it could be "Other Sports and Athletic Department" or something. There isn't a logical place to put this stuff right now.
  23. A few years ago I posted here asking for a dedicated volleyball thread. I appreciate your guys effort in making that happen, and I think you making this happen has been very successful and good for the program. Today I have a new suggestion, as I think there can be some confusion and lack of awareness of topics posted that pertain to the general happenings of UND in academics and athletics. UND academic topics are currently posted in "Community". I think renaming the topic by adding something pertaining to UND Academics or creating a new topic that separates discussion of general happenings at UND from topics relating to Grand Forks and the State of North Dakota would be beneficial. I don't have any evidence to back this up, but I believe having a separate topic for UND academics, faculty, and facilities would increase participation and awareness in these areas. There are many UND news articles that are published in the Herald and never discussed on this website. SiouxSports is also lacking a logical place to post general Athletic Department happenings, such as department-wide apperal deals, media deals, conference affiliation matters, and general AD staffing topics. These topics are typically discussed in topics related to specific sports, when they are often relevant to all sports at UND. IMO, I think that this causes the threads posted about some of the issues in these categories to be missed or under-discussed by users who do not venture into non hockey or football or basketball threads, even though some of the issues posted under these topics are relevant to the sports that they care about. Perhaps there is a better way to categorize department-wide athletics topics? Maybe it would be lumped in with with General UND Discussion for academics/athletics, and there could be a separate topic for Grand Forks/State of North Dakota issues. General UND AD issues could potentially be included with "NCAA News", too. Also, I think this is the best run college athletics message board, and appreciate those who moderate and manage/own siouxsports.com. I am just wondering if you guys think that there is room for improvement. I know that too many topics can also be a bad thing if they aren't used enough. What do you think guys think?
