  1. Providence should be lower. Their last natty was bs, considering they were the 16th seed and got placed in the providence regional for attendance reasons, when they weren't even the host, and it wasn't due to bracket integrity.
  2. Anything besides him choosing to retire is speculation. My guess is Kennedy talked to him and it was a mutual decision. It wasnt really anything he did "wrong". Just more of time for new blood type of thing. New preseident, new conference, faison was old, is time for a new era.
  3. I'm not out protesting. Just stating my opinion.
  4. Totally agree with this. The Fritz really is a great building that serves it's purpose. Why tear it down when it is the only theatre of any significant size in Grand Forks? Replacement would cost 25 million plus! If this building only needs $13.3 million over the next decade, and it's as old as it is, I think it's a no brainer to keep it. Even if they build a smaller building near the Hughs Fine Arts Center, it's easily going to cost more than that, and it will be worse than the current building. Construction costs are doing nothing but going up. This was just built in Minnesota and it cost ten million.. only seats 250. photo album
  5. Speaking of pregame bars, anyone know what happened with this? (Fighting Soo bar) http://www.inforum.com/business/4145383-update-man-looks-open-fighting-soo-restaurant-st-paul
  6. I agree with you guys about this years team. More than anything, college hockey officiating has kind of ruined the game for me. The guys can't make open ice hits anymore. Even if the hits are legal, they get penalties just for having big hits, basically. I'll be at the game though... just love the St. Patrick's day and hockey combo down in St. Paul.
  7. So does the NCHC set a new Frozen Faceoff attendance record this year now that we are back at the X? Or were all the people that used the Target Center as an excuse for not going to games full of poop?
  8. May have a new steam plant as soon as late fall or winter of 2019. http://blogs.und.edu/und-today/2018/03/full-steam-ahead-almost/
  9. Did you watch that video of him that was posted? Holy cow is he athletic for being such a tall guy. Unfortunately, can't see him gaining tons of weight, but he looks pretty dang good IMO. Compare him to Walter and it's not even close. Not a basketball mind, though.

  11. Well a lot of them are also hockey fans. Grand Forks isn't big enough to draw 11,000, 20 nights a year, by itself.
  12. https://und.edu/finance-operations/vpfo-reports/und-ncaa-summary.cfm For comparison, this is a link to 2015 and 2016, as well. I have spent a couple hours searching for NDSU's NCAA report, and it doesn't appear that they make it readily available to the public. Anyone know how to do an open records request?
  13. No worries - bet the house! They are due.
  14. The news has it's own page now. You have to click the link in the way lower left corner of the home page to get there. http://news.siouxsports.com/ The content isn't that great anymore - doesn't show this article. Edit: On the home page there is a news section under "around the web". I think it used to be set up so members could add articles - not sure if that is still the case.
  15. Don't worry, Omaha being sixth in the country in goals per game is irrelevant.
  16. UND sweeps easy. This is crunch time for UND hockey, and they will come through with some big wins. This team is going to regionals.
  17. Here is something to talk about, courtesy of Tom Miller, who I just bashed. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/football/4411954-und-football-coaching-staff-juggles-duties-spring-ball-begins "Schweigert has decided to no longer coach a position group. He had previously coached UND's cornerbacks..." "Schweigert said the move was made so he could spend more time monitoring both the offense and the defense during practice." "Travis Stepps has moved from coaching safeties to cornerbacks." "Joel Schwenzfeier has moved from coaching outside linebackers to safeties." "Defensive coordinator Eric Schmidt has moved from inside linebackers to outside linebackers. Carl Reinholz takes over the inside linebackers." "These coaching tweaks also make sense considering Stepps was an NCAA Division II All-American corner at Pittsburg State, Schwenzfeier was a UND safety and Schmidt was a UND outside linebacker." I like the change. Not sure about Reinholz at inside linebackers, though. Isn't he pretty new and played wr in college?
  18. It doesn't help that the football team doesn't have a beat writer. Tom Miller is our only hope, and he seems kind of lazy, to be honest. Teeder puts out better info than him and it's not even his job. There's zero new information to talk about, hence one post all week. Edit: In Tom's defense, he's only a columnist, though, and I think he has been busy with hs basketball. If money is an issue for the herald, and if I were in charge, I would hire a student intern (journalism major) to act as a part time beat writer for the football team. Cover practices and provide info and story ideas to Tom. UND also needs to figure out a way to produce a Through These Doors type of show for UND football. I know they have tried it in the past, but they cancelled it, citing lack of resources. Create a student internship and let them do this... they can put it on their resume while providing a meaningful service to UND football and it's fan base.
