  1. http://www.foxsports.com/north/story/fox-sports-north-plus-channel-information-011214 This says Channel 72 but I'm sure that was published before the "improved" TV lineup. When I called CableOne today (I know, 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back) they said it will likely be on an alternate channel - but they couldn't say with confidence which channel that would be. So at 7:31pm on Friday I'll be flipping through the guide with my fingers crossed. I hope they can give up the channel that plays the endless loop of upcoming PPV Wrestling options to put this game on.
  2. Over the weekend MidCo had an ad in The Forum talking about their 2014/2015 games that will be on FCS: November15th vs. Miami November 29th vs. Omaha January 24th vs. Colorado College February 14th vs. Denver February 28th vs. St. Cloud State
  3. A spectacular video in every way. Now if you could only enhance it with the smell of cinnamon almonds, hops, and hot dog condiments you would have some product! The last shot (wide shot of the interior of the Ralph with a spotlight illuminated) -- is that for sale or even as a desktop wallpaper? That is spectacular. PM me if you would like.
  4. We don't need no stinkin Badgers! Great effort Sioux - on win from the Frozen Four!
  5. Keep the Pressure on boys... The men in red know how to rally in the third. Exhale everybody, have a beer, and let's go Sioux.
  6. Providence looks sharp - I believe UND has them in the schedule in 2014-2015.
  7. I have the same picks I think it's destiny that Lucia the Notre Dame boy faces off against the team he currently coaches. Golden Domers vs. Golden Gophers, with Notre Dame advancing. Notre Dame - UND - BC - Union in the Frozen Four
  8. I have never been to the US Bank Center but it is part of a large Sports Complex all lined up in a row right along the Ohio River. The Reds Stadium is to the west and the Bengals stadium further down the row. Cincinnati is a fun sports town to hang out in- especially as baseball's opening day beckons. It's been a few years since I was there but there is a large Hooters Bar floating on the Ohio on the Kentucky side (Covington). It is a very large bar and on Reds game days they actually shuttle boats back and forth crossing the Ohio to take you to the ballpark. There are some nice pedestrian bridges that take you over the Ohio so I would venture to guess that everything around is within a six or eight block walk. There is/was a Hofbrauhaus nearby on the Convington side - good place for tall beers and good German Food. Speaking of food, a trip to the Queen City is not complete without a stop at Skyline Chili - don't let the fast food decor fool you - once you have a bowl of this stuff it will become fodder for your dreams. Skyline is everywhere but I prefer a good diner style Chili at Camp Washington Chili - a ways off the river. Like I said - great sports town, but not necessarily a hockey town. Brush up on your Big Red Machine Trivia, speak strongly of Johnny Bench, Rob Dibble, and the like and drop the name of Ickey Woods and Ken Anderson and you'll do ok
  9. Great topic! When I stand back and look at "what makes for a great year?" I like to think these rank very high. 1. Advance to Frozen Four - this is the super bowl of hockey and getting there is a testiment of survival. As disappointing as the end results were from 2005-2008, it was still awesome making it to the pinnacle of College Hockey - something only 3 other teams can do. I love following the race for the Pairwise and following the National Tournament. The NCAA baskeball definitely takes a back seat for me. 2. Winning MacNaughton Cup/Penrose - a regular season title is a marathon and it is terrific to finish on top at the end of that race. White banners are great as well. 3. Postseason conference tournament champs - nothing like winning a tournament but for me a six month journey trumps a three day sprint-- even if Alary's is involved. 4. Going on a Hot Streak - not on your list either but it is fun as a UND fan to ride the wave of a 10 or 12 game unbeaten streak. As fans of this program over the past 10 years, we are used to a second half surge. It's nice to know you can count on one of these - and they are getting quite common, honestly!
  10. Wow, did that play by Trupp ever energize the crowd. For what it's worth I will give a prediction: Friday: 5-2 UND Saturday: 4-3 UND f/ot As for the bigger tournament, I'm a beliver in some karma - Omaha has been dreadful over the years in the postseason so I could see them making a run. The Archibald kid has the potential to take over some games. I think they could make noise at Target Center. That UND-UNO semifinal could be a dandy but there's work to be done first.
  11. Truth be told, one of my favorite matchups is UND-CC. I'm not happy UND lost out on the white banner, but this was the matchup I wanted all along. Whereas UND and Denver engage in a lot of 2-1 games over the years, These Sioux-Tiger games always seem to result in high scoring, wide-open affairs. A few favorites that stand out - Thanksgiving Weekend shootout a couple of weeks ago - I believe it was a 7-6 UND win. Rylan Schwartz with a hat trick - in a loss! The 2011 Final Five Semifinal - OT win by the good guys was also one of my favorite games of the past five years. Not only a great finish, but outstanding individual performances and this was the Evan Trupp game where he picked up the puck and practically skated the length of the ice. Good times. I will be in attendance this weekend. Let's get some atmosphere going up there! I wonder if UND marketing is considering a White-Out or Thundersticks or something (lame, I know, for some) but there has to be a step in the right direction to get people to make some noise. Watching both games last weekend on TV ( I dunno, maybe it was Greg "Green" Akers) but man, the atmsophere seemed like it was a USA-U18 exhibition game rather than a race for the Penrose.
  12. NCHC website under tournament bracket also mentions that semifinal matchup start times will be determined by the commissioner.
  13. And remember Semifinals are re-seeded based on regular season NCHC Standings. This according to nchchockey.com
  14. High School BB has a huge following in SW North Dakota/Bismarck area as well. There are a lot of fans who attend the games for the love of the tournament - even if their team isn't playing. It's tough for them to justify a trip to Grand Forks. It would be the equivalent of Fargo/Wahpeton fans going up to Williston for a state tournament. I'm very excited that this is returning back to being the LAST North Dakota high school tournament of the year - it is the Granddaddy of them all and it deserves to be the finale. Oak Grove will be tough, Rugby is a solid choice. I'm going with Cavalier; solid tradition, Region 2 site advantage, and I don't believe they have ever won the big one, have they?
  15. Allright - Business Suits! Let's make history tonight. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic, I've been accused of walking down a Penrose Path.
  16. I was there for a game in the 2011 season - a tie thanks to a brilliant goal by Frattin. At any rate, we were in the front row on the ice in the zone UND was shooting at twice. TONS of Sioux fans there that night and the "Let's Go Sioux" chant drowned the place out. It's a very fun road game experience. The arena is concrete and not pleasing to the eye - reminded me a lot of the Minot State Dome. I am interested to see the improvements they made. Their student crowd is involved and loud - otherwise, a lot of good hockey fans in snowmobile jackets -- the place does get loud. The every day fans were hospitable - you can tell this is the social event of the winter season, coming to the rink to cheer on the Huskies. I think SCSU was about a 5th or 6th place WCHA team at that time so when the Sioux tied it up they weren't surprised or upset.
  17. I did - native of Dickinson. i miss the attention that high school sports received out there. Here college sports rules and that is fantastic, but there is something special about the way those small Class B town lived (and worshipped) their HS teams.
  18. In addition to the Penrose Trophy there is also another conference title banner (white one) to hang from the rafters. I know we are only interested in green banners but it is still a great achievement to add to those 15 flags hanging up there. Hypothetical if - wondering if UND sweeps St. Cloud this weekend - will they present the Penrose to the team that night at the Concrete Center or hold off until the following weekend in GF?
  19. I really wish the 'dogs could have pulled out a win at Cloud last weekend - they will be even more hungry this weekend as a result. I feel UND has the edge talent-wise and the venue does not concern me as UND's road record in February in recent years is solid. 2-2 tie, resulting in a shootout loss on Friday night 4-1 UND win on Saturday night - I'm predicting a big night out of the GFC kids in the lineup the same night GFC wins a state title over Bismarck back at the Ralph.
  20. I was at the RR vs. South play-in game on Tuesday night at Scheels. It was nip and tuck until RR capitalized on a shorty and from there they showed some dominance. It will be interesting now that it is likely going to be South-West Fargo for a chance to go to state, conversly Davies vs. Red River with the same at stake.
  21. Many, many decades ago when Ayr, ND still had a school their were the Ayr Rifles. That's class. Hebron Brickmakers was also one that gets some props. Of course, when they had a woeful night shooting from the perimeter they were the "bricklayers" to opposing fans.
  22. Hello all, I am looking for a replica WHITE dazzle UND home jersey from the 2001-2009 era. I will buy it used if you have it. Not looking to break the bank, just wondering if someone has one they are looking to unload. An example of one is listed below. I haven't found much luck on the internet tracking one down. I would be looking for a size "M" or "L" - 24 to 25 inches armpit to armpit. Normally I prefer throwbacks but this era (new Ralph, 4 straight Frozen Four trips) is when I really developed a strong interest in the program. Thanks everyone. PM if you can help me out. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.siouxgifts.com/assets/images/productimages/jerseys/whitedazzle_front_wht_sml.jpg&imgrefurl=http://siouxgifts.com/K1-White-Dazzle-Fighting-Sioux-2001-2009-Home-Hockey-Jersey-_p_47.html&h=450&w=398&sz=136&tbnid=P_kVkecMzfoBnM:&tbnh=95&tbnw=84&zoom=1&usg=__qnwdDJudus6qovBrKvijyIk9xxQ=&docid=MezypT88xi07WM&sa=X&ei=6zz6UsTPOsnXygHY2IHgCA&ved=0CEAQ9QEwAg
  23. This brings back some good memories - thanks for sharing! As a kid, I remember those District 29, 30, 31, 32 tournaments at Scott Gymnasium on the campus of Dickinson State. The place was packed and my ears would ring for hours when I was back home in my bed. Golva vs. New England St. Marys - good times.
