This is a weekend where UND's speed has a big impact on a larger, less-mobile Western team. 2-0 UND on Friday Night 2-1 UND on Saturday with a late goal in the 3rd being the difference. Zane bounces back into elite talk giving up one goal over two games. I really like the point that Schloss made a few days ago. UND is just not an easy team to beat right now. The one loss they've experienced in their last nine games took a 5X3 PP in Overtime to do it. The Pennyrosa comes down to UND @ Miami in the final weekend. Omaha has some tough series left and I see them dropping to third.

I hate the Rust and Urine Team. The rivalries UND has with the Colorado schools are some of the strongest and longest, dating back to the early 1950's. Familiarity breeds contempt. One of the toughest losses to endure was that Regional Final in 2004 - that team was special and destined for glory. And besides, three of Denver's National Championships were at NoDak's expense. We could conceivably have 10 Natties if it wasn't for these Rocky Mountain Goons.

West Regional (Fargo): 14 Minnesota vs. 2 North Dakota 12 Michigan vs. 7 Miami That has got to be too good to be true!? I still maintain that Michigan will go to South Bend somehow, someway. BG has good fans but they won't make or break that region's attendance like Michigan can. I think North Dakota - Minnesota is highly likely but Bowling Green - Denver could just as well be the other West Region pairing.

We all think back to when Lord Farquaad / Mr. Belding's Love Child walked across the ice in the winter of 2009 (still one of the best atmospheres I've ever experienced) but there is also this gem from the previous winter (February 2008). UND Radio Drinking Game: Drink everytime Ole says, "yup".

With Omaha's home crew doing the game tonight on FCS, I'd really like to sync-up TH's call with what I see on TV. It doesn't look like I have an option to pause the audio on The Fox's online stream (iHeart) - he will always be a few seconds ahead of the TV. Anyone have any tips to overcome this? I like Hammer/Kober and I can appreciate CBS' Crew but the man calling the game tonight is Omaha's radio guy.

Looking forward to EGF Senior High at Moorhead on Tuesday. Great hockey environment, two teams who should be in St. Paul - although Bemidji may have a say in that.

Does anyone have details of Saturday Night's game (January 24th) being televised? All schedules show that the game will be on Fox College Sports but here in Fargo (Cable One) the guide shows "Miami vs. Denver" at 6pm on FCS and no UND/CC game anywhere. Anyone else have anything different?

A great piece of Trivia, Mafia Man! Ah yes, those "challenge games". Hard to believe that a team that went through the backdoor made it all the way to the 1986 State Class "B" Championship Game.

1985 Region 8 Title Game was a doozy between New England Public and Glen Ullin. All I remember is how packed Scott Gym was and how my ears rang for hours afterwards. 57-55 on a late layup for the Tigers. There were high hopes that they'd leave their mark on the State Tournament but they finished 8th. 1986 Region 8 Title Game was a shootout with the Belfield Bantams upsetting the highly regarded Glen Ullin Rattlers. 74-72 lights out night at Dickinson High. The following year, 1987, Glen Ullin finally made it to state as the Region Champs but were paired up in the 1st round against May-Port. The Patriots were #1 in state with Glen Ullin #2 but by virtue of the way the pairings were drawn up you essentially had the state title in the quarterfinals; a game May-Port won.
