  1. After seeing the students with their custom made nodaks jerseys and nodak flags it opened my eyes more to nodaks being a good name, as the current students should have a big say in the name, as does coach Berry. However, even though I believe University of North Dakota nodaks sounds silly, I had a light go off in my head... For weeks I have been getting more okay with the most common, unoriginal team name, hawks, because it had the word 'fighting' in front of it. It keeps some of the fighting sioux name history...and because it allows the fans to yell the word sioux over the word hawks everytime the announcers say it at the arena (which I believe would happen forever) This has lead me to wish that we could become the university of north dakota fighting nodaks! Unfortunately that was never submitted in the nickname process (I am a bit slow with my idea:p), but I really wish it was because it combines the best option with two of our final five nickname choices AND also partially satisfies the pro fighting sioux nickname belief and the just north dakota nickname belief. Fans would have the option to yell sioux everytime that the ralph pa announcers says "...and here comes your university of north dakota fighting nodaks"....and some will yell that forever, but maybe some would quit and enjoy our new unique name I made this a post because if nodaks (or honestly any of the 5 names) wins I am going to start calling und the fighting nodaks and I hope you do too:)
  2. Hi y'all! I'm making an infographic (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/infographic?s=t) for the UND @ NDSU game in 2019. I need some expert input on the stats I include. I am football fan, but calling me an expert is a stretch. I have room for 18 stats, and so far i'm thinking: all time matchup record, 2018 record, 2019 record, last winner, and possibly the Vegas odds (Percentage? Fraction? Ratio? Over/under? What is an over/under? Where to find?). So that leaves us with room for 13/14 stats. What do you guys think that the most important ones are? if you were to evaluate a matchup which ones would you use? Thanks in advance for any help! p.s. This is not my first post. I used one or two other accounts before this. Just thought i'd say that.

  5. Meet and Greet Scheduled with Fighting Sioux Artist Bennett Brien visits Grand Forks to promote funding for feature film BISMARCK—The artist and creator of the now-retired Fighting Sioux logo, Bennett Brien, will appear at the Alerius Center in Grand Forks this Friday, December 11th from 4 to 7 pm, to meet with the public and help promote the upcoming film, “UNAUTHORIZED! The Story of the Fighting Sioux.” This event is free and open to the public. “UNAUTHORIZED!” is a documentary that tells the story of University of North Dakota's controversial athletics icon through one-on-one interviews with fans, tribal leaders, students, bloggers, reporters, politicians, and super fans. Brien, who is a Native American artist from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, will meet and take pictures with attendees, while the film's director, Matt Fern, will answer questions and show clips from the film. Fern and his team have already shot much of the film; however, they are seeking investment via Kickstarter to capture additional footage, finalize edits and license music. Kickstarter is a website used by artists and entrepreneurs to fund projects such as this through small private donations from the public. Supporters for this campaign receive copies of the film, hand-drawn art from Brien and other premiums, depending on their donation. To attend, visit the Alerius Center, Room 5, this Friday, December 11th from 4 to 7 pm next to Entrance 7. To learn more and participate in the Kickstarter campaign, visit www.FightingSiouxMovie.com.
  6. Going back over a half of a century from the first time University of North Dakota blades hit ice surfaces all across America it grown from the beginning to become this unique and special program we all know as Fighting Sioux hockey. As I have said before, a nickname which has reached the full potential of a nickname like none other. The official name for the school can be whatever it is, no matter, it has no impact on the reality of who we are, who this team is, or what the program is. Ask any player who has played for the program, current or past, ask any fan or any foe, hear it loud and here it clear, it's fighting Sioux Hockey and those that understand it are so very proud of what we all have and share. So Sioux Forever on ya! ...Let's have this thread as a place fans can post great statments or quotes from players, past or present, coaches and public figures who speak to this fact. I hear it all of the time and I have for many many years, long before the Sioux name was in the NCAA cross hairs. Being a Sioux Hockey fan or player has been a pretty special thing for scores and the Sioux name is central in that tradition. The Sioux name speaks to that tradition. It's very clear that the preponderance of those invested plan to keep the Sioux name as a predominant identification of said tradition. So when you hear it, post it. ...Let's not have this thread be another move on debate thread. All of the move on plants and cronnies can move on now,. The schools official name has changed and the settlement agreement with the NCAA has been met. Done! Whoo hoo!! (Applause) If you want to promote the new nickname do it somewhere else. This is about honoring our tradition and respecting our name. The name we choose to call ourselves and, its pretty apparent, want to continue to refer to ourselves as and as long as it is a free country we get to proudly declair ourselves as. Go Sioux!!
  7. Hi I have seen a few older jerseys with the WCHA logo on the lower back and others on the shoulder any clue why they were on the back?
  8. Ralph Engelstad Arena has plethora of historic and autographed Fighting Sioux jerseys that will be auctioned off. First two up are an authentic replica autographed Matt Greene jersey and a 1956-1957 Bill Reichart replica jersey. Good luck everyone! http://www.theralph.com/auction
  9. Today is the 10 year anniversary of the NCAA's policy regarding use of American Indian nicknames during NCAA postseason events. On Friday, August 5, 2005, the NCAA announced the following: NCAA Executive Committee Issues Guidelines for Use of Native American Mascots at Championship Events 10 years and counting. And some people on here want to fight this to the death...no matter the cost.
  10. Hello all, I would like to share the REA video timelapse I created. I squeezed the REA experience down into an 8 minute video. It is a little long as I was stubborn with cutting out footage. I would be happy to answer any questions. Best student section in college hockey, I would say so. Oh, and due to the music I used, you can't view this on mobile devices. Sorry about that. The video was uploaded in 4K. I would suggest using that option even if you have a 1080p screen as the video gets played in a higher bitrate than if you clicked 1080p. Spent hour and hours on this so figured I would market it a bit and get it out there. Enjoy.
  11. Got my uncle a Fighting Sioux print at https://siouxhockeyprint.com . Name withheld for obvious reasons (he reads anything Sioux/UND hockey). He will LOVE this limited edition print!
