  1. I know the focus is on 2011-2012 and I'm ready for the puck to drop but I have a question about 2012-2013: This article mentions that next year they Sioux go to Mariucci for one last series. Is it true that Minnesota won't be coming to Grand Forks in 2012/2013?
  2. Correct on that one. Versus even broadcast their Spring Football Game in April. Don't be suprised if Sunday Mass is broadcast live next along with a back to back to back "Rudy" Marathon during the off-season.
  3. Yes, it does look like a shun job for the NCHC. When Notre Dame went to Hockey East, Versus/NBC Sports Net went with them. It figures that Denver gets a few (larger market) but I would have at least liked to see more of CC; kind of surprised that a Denver-CC Gold Pan game wasn't in the lineup. I was really hoping for more North Dakota road games, I guess. Accordng to College Hockey News, the Feb 10th game at Duluth is on CBS College Sports, so that's one thing to look forward to. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/tvsked.php Its not WCHA/NCHC, but there is always a silver lining and in this case that is more College Hockey on television.
  4. I love the idea, I really do. How bout an old fashioned LP record with UND's "In Heaven There is No Beer" on one side and UW's "Roll Out the Barrel" on the other?
  5. Muddy Rivers sounds like a neat place; never been. I heard Whitey's is back and reopened. I loved the atmosphere the couple of times I've been been but the food wasn't so/so. I wonder if the new ownership/management will make it the place to be before games.
  6. Hmmmm....makes me think that someone from the SS.com "art department" might be all over this. I bet it's a matter of time before we see some renditions of what the banners will look like. 1959 Sammy the Sioux would look pretty sweet, IMO.
  7. In case this hasn't been tried...you may need to "auto program" your channels so that it reads channels above 60. On my basic cable downstairs, I needed to do this with my TV and it worked to get channels higher than 62 or 63. Worst case scenario, Cable One does offer another cable box (non DVR) for $5.00 per month that you can add on to your current package.
  8. Yes, I did verify from Cable One this morning. Channel 70 (not 44) is the FSSN for the upcoming season. I was worried when I saw 44 was snowy the past few weeks.
  9. Yes, it is. Channel 44 on Cable One. They also show them on Fox College Sports (a bit better quality) on the Digital Pack, Ch 306. Neither in HD through Cable One, however.
  10. When does the 2011-2012 schedule get released? I know about the Icebreaker and tentative Winnipeg game, along with a home series vs. Harvard the last weekend of the year, but otherwise....
  11. So let me get this straight.....once you scan your Thursday tickets for Game 1, you can't re-enter for Thursday Game 2? I'm pretty clear on this one. Someone told me today for example, you cannot go to the Duluth game, then go to the Sioux party at RiverCenter and then go to game 2. That stinks, but I see why they do it. This may be the dumbest question of the week but Saturday's ticket stands alone, right?
  12. I have two throwback jerseys and they are both green so this thread was made for me. Hopefully the boys will make it "easy to be green"
  13. You could go the MasterCard route: Tickets to Get in the Door $200 Hotels for the Weekend $500 North Dakota fans taking over the State of Hockey Priceless Some things money can't buy, for everything else there's the Hakstol Card

  15. BWW South is always packed and it will be better now that NCAAs are wrapping up. Bulldog Tap is a good alternative on the southwest side. Tailgators is a fun old-school place too.
  16. You could go on all day...and Kentucky lost the 1997 National title game in college basketball....
  17. 1997: After winning title in Milwaukee, Sioux fans tip back St. Pauli Girl. 2011: After winning title in St. Paul, Sioux fans tip back Old Milwaukee. Some things never go out of style!
  18. New Hampshire has a good chance to beat Miami....I just hope they can score at the pace Miami does. Notre Dame's goaltending is suspect. Whoever makes it out of the Northeast will have a tough time in St. Paul. Miami is due for an early exit one of these years. (Now I sit back and watch someone copy this post into a forum on April 10th after somebody like Merrimack wins it all). UM-DULUTH NOTRE DAME (luke-warm pick) NORTH DAKOTA NEBRASKA-OMAHA
  19. http://www.740thefan.com/uploads/Derrick%20LaPoint%20March.mp3 Derrick LaPoint on the Fan today at noon. (740 The Fan in Fargo)
  20. Awesome video. Hard not to get choked up, especially if you are a parent and just want the best for your kids. The shot at 4:20 into the video says it all. Pretty impressive that a group of guys would come together and make a huge difference for this family.
  21. As a traditionalist, I really hope we maintain conference affiliation with the long-time rivals we have left. Denver, CC, and hopefully Michigan Tech will remain. The team from HOughton is down currently (and have been for a while) but the Sioux have a long-standing affiliation with them. If Michigan Tech were to jump and go with other schools like Lake Superior State, Western Michigan, and others of the CCHA ilk, I would be bummed. For what it's worth, the MacNaughton Cup might go with them because that may not necessarily beong wo the WCHA, but to the conference that Michigan Tech (the overseer of the Cup) is a current member of.
  22. I think with some different bounces (anyone of Dell's great saves getting past him), the Sioux could have lost on Saturday. Friday's game was a war and that could have gone either way too. Truth be told, I'm thrilled that they were challenged in St. Paul after three weekends of playing some of the lower tiered teams in the WCHA (no offense to Bemidji St.). And they survived! I've heard a lot of people on this board lamenting the fact that UND has something to prove (with BC, loss to Yale, etc). I certainly agree, but let's not forget Denver was the #1 seed last year and got bounced by RIT so they also have some unfinished business of their own. If it's UND-Denver again this weekend I will be up all night on Saturday....the anticipation for that game will leave me nauseous. Very very, excited, hopeful, and confident, but nauseous.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RPI_Puckman_logo.png AZ Sioux, I was hoping for this logo as you drew up the "weekly matchup" page. I don't care who you are...you gotta have some love for the Puckman logo! This is what we're dealing with as the Sioux take on the Engineers. From Wikipedia: "The official hockey mascot known as The Puckman has always been very popular. The Puckman is an anthropomorphic hockey puck with an engineer's helmet." During the 1970s and 80s, one RPI cheer was: E to the x, dy/dx, E to the x, dx Cosine, secant, tangent, sine 3.14159 Square root, cube root, log of pi Disintegrate them, RPI!
  24. I believe some of the NDSU Football playoff games this past fall were in ESPN Syndication & ESPN 3 and they were picked up locally on TV so it is possible.
