  1. https://www.facebook.com/arentwesiouxenough?fref=nf It appears that no name is a possibility - unless they are just appeasing the masses.
  2. The story I heard was that after the game he was pretty distraught and had been getting taunted all game - he broke and came up the side into the stands - I didn't see it just heard about it.
  3. No matter what name is chosen there will be reasons to hate it - I still like the thought of finding something regionally linked. Someone suggested this name to me: Nordic Warriors Of course you can easily trash any name that is suggested but it's just another possibility linked to the Scandinavian culture of the area,
  4. Anyone know anything about NAU's #66 climbing into the stands after the game and going after some fans?
  5. The opposite of love isn't hate - it's indifference. Many FU fans try to claim they are indifferent about UND but their hate language says otherwise.
  6. I do agree that it is inevitable that there will be a new nickname chosen. Just for the sake of discussion however I have to say that based on your criteria even if UND was sincere in wanting to move on without a nickname there is no way they could because there will always be fans wearing Fighting Sioux clothing. Uber politically correct Stanford chose a color as their mascot and there are still plenty of alumni that wear Stanford Indian clothing. Just because a school can't control what it's fans wear and cheer doesn't mean they aren't sincere.
  7. After reading the story in the GF Herald there is no way that no nickname is an option.
  8. How about this for a positioning: Nicknames are antiquated, they come from a different time in the world of higher education. Today nicknames have become a source for insults, slurs, inappropriate chants and slogans. Therefore UND is choosing to focus on its entire community and promote and celebrate the entire University by choosing to NOT have a nickname. We are North Dakota. (Of course the NCAA will B**tch Slap us back into reality but hey it's something to talk about).
  9. In the big picture this season was never going to be a Storybook Season - doesn't really matter how many wins we end up with - i's day by day for the future.
  10. Someone involved in the public forums needs to throw that option out so we hear whether or not it is an option. I'm guessing it's not an option - anti-nicknamers would say it just encourages perpetuating Fighting Sioux. I believe the NCAA has mandated a new name. UND needs it for marketing revenue.
  11. There are so many of you FU Trolls posting under so many nicknames no one knows how many posts you have - but the reality is you continue to find the need to come here and defend FU - which supports the inferiority complex syndrome so many of you seem to have. By the way UND is will be always be THE Flagship University of the state ...Buttfootball (no need to rebut we can just copy and paste previous FU troll comments). .
  12. We met his parents tailgating - must be something behind the scenes because they seemed to like his situation.
  13. So glad you have the time to continue to monitor here and question every comment - reality check it's a UND fan site we are going to diss FU - it's all a matter of opinion - and I think there is a site especially for you with like minded people - it's not here.
  14. I think we have plenty of FU trolls here with expressed intent of "broadening our horizons" amazing how important you find the fan site of a school you don't consider your rival. I'm guessing you are another in a long line of twenty-somethings with little prospects and nothing better to do - if this doesn't fit your profile then it's even sadder that you have time to be here.
  15. http://fansided.com/2014/11/03/phil-jackson-tweets-support-anti-redskins-protesters/ According to this story UND has opted not to choose a new nickname. Jackson attended the University of North Dakota, which has opted to not adopt a new sports nickname since dropping the “Fighting Sioux” moniker for good after a statewide referendum in 2012.?
  16. That name is taken - and that school hasn't been asked to change.
  17. So can we assume Bartles has a season ending injury too?
  18. Sorry to tell you the quality is just fine a majority of the time.
  19. This is not my opinion but I've heard this angle before somewhere - so IF the recruiting rules of another school applied to UND the following would be true: ; UND Women's BB can have its pick of the top talent in the region. If offered by UND the only reason any player would choose to go to another school would be because of more money or more playing time. If a player originally offered by UND chooses another school it's because UND changed its mind or doesn't need the player anymore. Any player that attends another school within the region was obviously not recruited by UND or not talented enough for UND. The above is all in jest - of course.
  20. Unfortunately it's a long way from being an annual game - my money is on that it will never be an annual game.
  21. It's not just Fargo, Saint Cloud (140 miles to the east) is averaging a couple of shootings a week - most are associated with gang and drug activity. Yes they have a bus pipeline from Chicago and a very active placement program for immigrants (not saying either are related - just saying).
  22. http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/tom-miller-be-patient-und-qb-situation Pretty big leap to assume that fans are going to come down on Studsrud after just one game. Even the biggest nay-sayers and armchair coaches haven't come up with that opinion (yet).
  23. Looking for up to 4 tickets for Weber State Football this Saturday. I know I can walk up and get them at the ticket office just trying to cut some costs to get my family in the door (they only come up once a year to see what it's all about.)
