It's a glorified scrimmage against an NAIA team - better than playing themselves. It's not like they are kicking off the season against Kansas at 3:00 on a Friday. Can't we assume that they probably know that a 3:00 game on a Friday isn't the best but they are doing what time, staff and facilities allows.

You may be right so I'd love to know who those "other options" were accounted for and were able to meet the timelines given for voting.

If you look at the score sheet there were two on the committee that gave "North Dakota/No Nickname" a -5 and a -8, no other name received anything lower than a -2. It was obvious these two on the committee intended to skew the average and make sure that North Dakota/No Nickname did not make the cut - those super lower scores ensured it.

As far as UND choosing to use the Internet as the only way to vote: According to the PEW Research center 41% of those age 65 or old do not use the internet at all, 53% do not have broadband access at home, and 23% do not use cell phones. Seem like someone inside should have thought about an equitable voting system - and no expecting everyone to have Internet access should not be assumed.

Why isn't any member of the media reviewing this list with a spokesperson from UND in regards to "Fighting Hawks"?

So someone, don't know who, paints a racist logo with sh*t on campus and some Missouri students threaten to protest and the President resigns ..hmmmm.

Yes but I could also see a memo being sent out from the Administration that basically forces teams to add the logo to improve fan acceptance.

Still can not figure out how Fighting Hawks fit even one of the criteria that was given to the committee to come up with the list - I would like to have someone who was on the committee address that. Siouxpride.com

No doubt - this could be a record year for 7-4 records not making it - test for this team's character - they are in control of at least being considered for post season - as they say "Every game is a play-off game." Nice to at least be in the conversation.

Based on our previous kick-over coverage I hope they either spend extra time on coverage or practice the pouch kick. Also while it's great we can actually think about it I'm not ready to discuss playoff hosting - cart meet horse. It's just troll bait for the future.

Hate to say it but this could be the exact reason why you don't want to tweak the NCAA's nose (see nickname issue) First we take care of business and win two, when we do we will be a bubble team. Bubble teams that tweak the NCAAs nose don't get chosen.

I totally agree - my take from his message was that he was lauding the offense and dissing the defense - which makes sense when you are averaging 40+ points a game and still lose.

Fun to chat about and like that we have something positive to go back and forth with. Any history to this - when was the last time the backfield on our football team had a nickname that was well-known? Just thinking that if indeed we get what we want - depth - there will be plenty of times they won't be in the backfield together.

Like to see similar survey on the purchase of new logo wear. Doesn't matter what it is I'm not buying it - not out of spite just can't see myself ever being anything but a Fighting Sioux. No matter what it is sales will never be what they were - just won't have the nationwide appeal that we had with Fighting Sioux and the logo. -
There are already empty seats down south - quite sure I could get a ticket to a game there once deer season start. I don't really see the value of all your negative posts doesn't change anything doesn't create any kind of positive dialogue but it's a free country just hope you don't walk around with the same kind of attitude. Life's too short find something to enjoy about the season and life.

He was a Jessie Ventura type politician in his day rallied the good old boys and got elected Bismarck Mayor and then stumbled through his tenure. The picture is at least 20 years old i would put him in his 70s.

I've always wondered how it was determined that "FIghting Hawks" fit the original criteria that was laid out for the committee and how not one person on the committee ever asked that question.

It's always a guessing game - you have to watch for the bus to pull up and with the student buses you never know. This is an opportunity for the Athletic Department to start a new tradition - blow some kind of horn when the team buses are coming so everyone knows to go line up - perhaps it could soon be a hawk screaming (god I hope not).
