"It is the singular item that places UND on the national scene" I'm hoping you just forgot that it is a University and a place for higher learning first - with a medical school, law school, nationally recognized aerospace program....

Will be interesting to see how much the name is forced on the teams - football team has never had any name other than North Dakota on their jerseys but that may change - there is going to be a ton of "Forced Fan Fun" surrounding this name. I'll say it again there is no connection because a person's acceptance of this name and their support of UND. I hope UND keeps the use of the name subtle - I hope we never hear the sound of a screaming hawk in The Ralph.
-
I know it's been said but I want to say it again - UND spent tens of thousands of dollars on an outside consultant and we got "Fighting Hawks" out of it. I want to see a t-shirt that says "My Alma Mater spent $50,000 on a new nickname and all I got was Fighting Hawks".
-
This time a million - not even close to the process that will be required for logo development plus who made the judgement that logo is even acceptable - I think it's ugly.

Wish all you want but a win is still better than a loss.

Hate to throw this out there but it's a good thing - we must be on the NCAAs Nice List now because we just chose a new nickname. If we had just made the decision to go as "North Dakota" I'm saying that would have been a factor for a bubble team.

That would be the Husky Buffalo.

MC's Dugout downtown and Husky pre-game party at Brother's Bar and Grill downtown on Saturday.

Isn't it true that when talking to a prospective recruit you can't say anything to them about UND such as "Love to see you in a UND uniform" or even "UND is a great school". Doubtful you would ever get caught but that's what they call tampering.

Tailgating crowds are consistent but I wouldn't say they grew much this year. I hate seeing large gaps of space open week after week. UND needs to take a stand and not just let people buy spots and never use them. There are four spots next to us that have been used twice in the last three years. UND has staff walking around all the time all they need to do is make notes at every home game of which spots are paid for and not used, then the next year those people get moved and the spots filled in so the gaps go away. Reward those who are loyal tailgaters and show up. What other changes would you like to see?

Just wrote UND Football on the calendar for November 28th - in ink! Road trip (for me no matter where it is)! Ya gotta believe. Siouxpride.com

Tell your friends to get girlfriends so they have something real to worry about. If they already have a girl friend or wife they have better things to worry about than good players transferring. There is so much more that brings and keeps student athletes at a college - education, family, coaching staff. It really doesn't happen that often in stable solid programs at quality institutions.

He sure brings new meaning to "three yards and a cloud of dust" it's more like "75 yards and eat my dust".

Nothing against Jake but it's lipstick on a pig.

I wouldn't mind if this was true but remember this is an administration and numerous liberal faculty that can't wait for Fighting Sioux to go away.
-
Gonna be 56 degrees and sunny for tailgating - gotta put the game on your A list for the day. The team has done it's part - a meaningful game in November (Yah I know there were two stumbles in the season but it's in their hands.)
-
We've had a few blow-outs this year - then the fourth quarter happened. It's all about Sack City and Dback play. History shows this will probably be the lowest attended game of the year with lots of students disguised as empty seats.
-
It seems like the staff is able to recruit players with some pedigree - time will tell how they stack up against the Big Sky - the better teams have broad shoulders that can score on the inside. We had many games that were single digit loses last year where we just didn't make the plays and the other team did. The Europe trip won't hurt and might help us to be a surprise team - at finishing in the top 5.
-
So is every attempt to discuss the team and the season going to be allowed to turn into the ever-popular Fire Jones discussion?
-
It's a glorified scrimmage against an NAIA team - better than playing themselves. It's not like they are kicking off the season against Kansas at 3:00 on a Friday. Can't we assume that they probably know that a 3:00 game on a Friday isn't the best but they are doing what time, staff and facilities allows.

You may be right so I'd love to know who those "other options" were accounted for and were able to meet the timelines given for voting.

If you look at the score sheet there were two on the committee that gave "North Dakota/No Nickname" a -5 and a -8, no other name received anything lower than a -2. It was obvious these two on the committee intended to skew the average and make sure that North Dakota/No Nickname did not make the cut - those super lower scores ensured it.
