  1. Does anyone have any information on what the revenue was for Sioux Hockey last season? How about NDSU football? Which one has a bigger revenue stream contribution to the University? How about contribution after expenses?
  2. How much money did the Sioux football program make for the University last year? I think I heard it was the first year in a while where they were positive?
  3. Who cares...it's "We are one, we are North Dakota!"
  4. My personal experience from living in EGF for the last 10 years is that the kids are about 95% Sioux Fans and 5% MN fans; I would put the parents at about 75% Sioux fans and 25% MN fans. The big boon for Sioux Fans has been the two EGF players who are currently on the roster for the Sioux...So many times have their little brothers or family members brought whole teams of squirts or peewees to meet these guys and see the facilities....Every kid walks out of that meeting wanting to be a Sioux hockey player. Additionally, the head coach is an ex-Sioux and one of the Bantam coaches is an ex-Sioux player...it's definitely Sioux country in EGF.
  5. By the way homer announcers, Dixon Bowen is going to be playing for the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux!!! The two guys from Hermantown going to MN already know what chokin' is about and that's why Lucia goes after them....
  6. I think goal tending will be the big question mark for EGF if Tweten and Loven stay next year...I think many people thought there wasn't a really good chance with EGF getting back to the Championship game this year without the defensive group they had last year, but coaching does play a big factor in the kids development and the team was solid when it really needed to be. I really enjoyed hearing the homer announcers keep asking when the drought is going to end for Hermantown...Talked incessantly about Hermantown with little recognition of a very good EGF team playing right in front of their noses...My 2 cents.
  7. Pretty impressive feat by the team across the Red River...Always awesome to see an out-state, small town public school play some awesome hockey in St. Paul this time of year!!! Can you imagine the anguish of Hermantown...wow...6 times in a row... BobIwabuchiFan
  8. I'm just hoping for the North Dakota nickname and logo to be the choice...then everyone can move on to however they want to represent the team...Flickertails, Sioux, or just ND...Can't we just all get along??
  9. You hit the nail right on the head! Weak ass leadership at the University and the SBHE led us to the end result we are living with today...A pissed off citizenry that doesn't want to change and is suspicious of a University President who is planning to help us adjust to the 'new reality'. Well, I'm one of the people who doesn't accept the proposed paradigm shift...
  10. Don't you have someone else to bother with your lessons in life? Seriously, we all get it that you don't give a crap about the nickname and never really did..so why don't you get over it and move on? Try posting on a topic about how everyone needs to move on and then you and Daryl and UNDBiz can go fill it up with your surrender rationalizations.
  11. Good article and the nerves are still raw...I can only hope for the full destruction of the NCAA when the Big 5 Football divisions decide to ditch it. Sour Grapes, yah, but so what?
  12. We are glad to have him and your are invited to the Tailgate...Look for the Green Machine bus!
  13. Who the hell is it hurting to use the fascade of The Fighting Sioux? Its not hurting the University as it has no battle to fight with the NCAA if it chooses no nickname or keeps what it has now - isn't that the primary reason given by the all the people who gave up on the name for agreeing to get rid of it? Regardless, whatever name is chosen some of us will still cheer them on as the Fighting Sioux of ND - get over it!
  14. We are one, we are North Dakota! They have this branding and marketing out there and it's what drives the current sales. Is anyone surprised that it doesn't produce the same amount of revenue and recognition as the old Fighting Sioux nickname and Logo? If you are, then you don't understand marketing and branding at all. Is not the simplest solution for all in this case is to accept what we have now - "North Dakota" as the Nickname and interlocking ND as the logo? Everyone wins as the school gets to say it is done with the old logo and nickname and can move on with the NCAA and the folks, like myself, will continue to cheer on North Dakota and the Fighting Sioux as their informal name. The students and the athletes have a brand and its North Dakota! Its not the best solution, but would do expect with the way the whole process has gone to date?
  15. I'm advocating North Dakota as our nickname and the interlocking ND as our logo...Plain and simple. If we decided to celebrate this new logo as well as the old logo, so be it - we are just using our rights to free expression without any University involvement. Case closed. Now let's move forward and get North Dakota as our nickname and the ND logo locked in and we can begin celebrating both without anymore interruption from the PC crowd.
  16. Given the information from the Nickname forums, is the use of ND not an acceptable logo and nickname per the contract? If so, why fight it when we can have the best of both worlds - ND as the formal nickname and Sioux as the informal nickname? You will not find another nickname that will generate as much revenue as the Fighting Sioux did for the University, so continue with what we have now and rally around the times when we are allowed to sell the informal nickname and logo for Trademark reasons.
  17. We Are North Dakota! Works for me - especially when I am wearing my Sioux jersey and yelling 'Go Sioux' passionately!
  18. Given what I know, which is limited, he and his family have a goal of professional hockey and his agent/team was the big decider in him pulling out from UND and going CHL. I can't hold that against anyone who is chasing their dream and yes I wish he could have stayed at UND to develop just like I wish Parise and Toews would have have been 4 year players, but as the sport grows and talent shows up these expectations have to be adjusted to fit the players hopes and wishes, not the fans...IMO.
  19. I just think its pretty bad in America when you need to inject race into a news item so it can fit a narrative...The recent Ferguson shooting is a prime example and I think the Trayvon Martin shooting was another. The overall narrative is that white people are violent racists against minorities is the norm in America, but for the Trayvon example the press had to hyphenate Mr. Zimmerman's ethnicity to help link it to the white on black racism narrative - Its the first time I have ever heard someone called a White Hispanic. So, is there racism in America...Yes, and there will be until the end of days, but trying to make these shootings out to be racist does no justice to the actual acts of racism that do occur in America...My 2 cents.
  20. Getting proper ID to vote in an election is not a ridiculous requirement and does not put an undue burden on a citizen. What is a burden apparently to those folks who didn't have proper ID or didn't take the time to make the required changes to their address and update their ID is the fact that we are required to understand how our government works and follow those rules. Ignorance of the law is no excuse and in these cases saying "I didn't know" is not a valid point in my honest opinion. You have the right to vote, but not the right to plead ignorance in your civic duty to ensure your vote is counted.
  21. I'm a firm believer that football has and always will be about the line play...Install the people and the system, then the rest will take care of itself. I have been disappointed in the offensive line play, but I think we should have expected that as Bubba was most likely trying to figure out how to improve the fastest and his view was most likely defense. If I am correct he tried to move some of the faster guys out of the OL and onto the DL...Some took to the opportunity and some did not and left. I also think the team has been impacted significantly from players being injured and also leaving the team. I can only imagine the negative effect this has on teams when players start to defect from the system. Lastly, my expectations have already been met with the 3 wins this year and I know Bubba and his team will have one hell of a recruiting class next year and another year of their system under the belt of the remaining players...things are definitely looking up in my view which is don't sacrifice the long term gain for short term gain. 22. Garage Logic is a awesome show...My favorite was the Christmas lights story where the neighbor was in control of the Christmas lights of the neighbor across the road and he didn't know it...I laughed so hard during my 1 hr drive back home after work it made my whole month! By the way FightingSioux4Life, your comments should probably get a big Duluth Foghorn...
  23. I don't think they would even let you wear the Sioux logo as a Halloween costume...if I can remember the recent memo from the new campus diversity Czar stating that everyone needs to be aware of your costume's potential to be interpreted by others as hurtful or disparaging of other cultures...Do you need anything else to tell you we're on the PC crazy train on our beloved campus?
