I agree to what you state about the need to market athletics within our own school system, but I would say they haven't being doing such a great job of marketing the athletics side in recent years because of the President's and his staff's distaste for the nickname. Since that has been gone, its amazing to me they aren't pushing this more on campus, but I could be wearing the "Fighting Sioux" glasses and not seeing their best efforts either.

The Summit has nothing to do with NDSU perception right now...Its the fact you guys have two, and most likely three soon, National Championships in FCS football. UND leaving the BSC for the Summit/MVFC is a stupid choice to begin with as the league is solid and has the best potential of maybe moving into a new conference level in the future as well.

NDSU had to cut back on its tuition waivers which allowed it to balloon in size during the Chapman years (I believe they were significantly higher than the # of waivers given by UND)...Since this won't be an option in the future to depend on for growth because of the legislature, I think they are looking at traditional ways of marketing to potential students to increase their student population.

My take-away from this season comes from the parents of players who tailgate at my setup every week...The parents don't have bad things to say about the HC, but they sure don't have positive things to say either. I know most them won't come out and complain about the coach, but comments I get from them seem to favor that the team really doesn't respect the coach we have now and their lack of respect for him is coming from their sons who play for him. When I combine this with the inability of this coach to interact with the tailgaters as he walks by, it gives me a pretty bad feeling about his ability to influence the players and the coaches. I truly believe he isn't doing this to destroy Sioux football, I just think he is not the right guy for our program or to be a HC...my 2 cents. As for Faison, he better take care of this quickly or his name will be up on these boards and I can tell you many people will be asking for his head if we have to go through this type of play next year!

If Monday comes and Muss is still the coach, then we need to formally change this topic to FIRE FAISON...If the AD can't see what's happening to the program, then he has to go as well....

I got a crazy question...is it the style of play that we use (Dump and chase) that is getting old and doesn't produce the results now? I have yet to see how we have changed from a dump and chase type of team even with the big name studs coming on board and with the conference change. The last time dump and chase worked for us in the Frozen four was against other WCHA teams. Lastly, why are the defensemen bringing up the puck so far - why not transition to the forward faster? Looking for some honest feedback, not the usual we don't have heart, etc...

I think bringing the sign to the game is like trying to warm the ocean by pissing in it...Everyone is aware of how bad the team is this year and Muss will get fired. Have you ever fired anyone? Do you think you bring in signs or wear bags on your head to work the day you are going to can someone? Show some respect for another person and let the process play out without adding injury to him or his family. Honestly, does anyone think on this page that if he had some magical way to win those games he would not have done it because he wanted the team to lose? I could see shaming someone who was trying to damage the school intentionally, but I'm one that believes he had a plan for success and he didn't manage it well and we have the result we have. Not because of bad intentions, but because of his inability to execute the plan effectively. So, no need to pile on when the end is near...my 2 cents and flame away if need be.

I think the best approach to the Fire Muss sign is to stay classy and let it play itself out on the field and not the stands...my opinion only.

Our lines aren't even clicking yet and I'm not sure the coaching staff has definite lines yet developed. We went against a solid WCHA team who has a large amount of Jr.s and Sr.s and they don't take anytime off during the game. Our youth hurt us because we had two definite 5 min portions of periods where we stood around and let them physically dominate us and shoot on our goalie. When we start to play a full game, the hard work will pay off and the line chemistry will start to produce results.

1. If we want a good coach, I think we need to take the time to do so...rushing this is just like getting Mussman again in my mind. 2. I think you recruit with the new coaching staff...Again, rushing a decision at this point will only bite you in the end. Get the staff in place, develop a recruiting strategy for the next 5 years, and start executing. 3. I hope the University understands that an underwhelming product in Football will be a net drag on our budget going forward. We have tons of upside potential ($$) if we can get Football righted again and maintain or improve upon the other money-maker in the UND family. 4. No...there doesnn't seem to be enough trust in the current staff and to pull one of these guys out to be HC is the same process we took when Lennon left in my mind...Too short-sighted and not paying enough attention to the details of a quality headcoach (See #1). All very good questions....

Definitely tailgating and seeing the last season for some of the players...Hardin in particular. Deer opener will have a very big impact on numbers and I'm sure I can find tickets for my kids...

If Faison isn't getting an earful from the major donors, then I think Muss will be back next year...sad, but probably right. On the other hand, if he is hearing it then we know he has to make a choice for the program...nothing personal, just business.

You state emphatically that UND is a hockey school only and thus its the most popular sport always...I beg to differ because I can tell you when UND starting winning in Football and actually beat the Bison in 93 it was the most popular sport on campus - they won and and they won by beating the bison. The hockey team struggled to be in the middle of the WCHA for christ's sake. You don't think the football stands were full of fans as compared the Ralph at that time? Why do I have to refute your point? It's wrong by premise to begin with....how was hockey popularity on campus in the early nineties? How about when Roger and the boys started winning and the football tailgating was going crazy...you could have gotten into any Hockey game in town at that time because we sucked even with Greg Johnson on the team. So say what you want now about who is riding high in popularity, but that position does change and has changed historically...point refuted.

Yeah, I guess the multiple lessons from UND history, where sports programs have risen and fallen in popularity, have no bearing on our arguement. I guess its just 'small-minded idiots' like myself who actually pay attention to history and use it to make my arguements who are the real fools. Happy Halloween Moon Country!

Still not there as a team...NAU 28 UND 10...Mollberg with 3 interceptions by end of 3rd qtr because he doesn't check down and forces it to Jackson in double coverage....Hardin has two passes thrown to him with one complete for 11 yards.

I find it interesting that SAB is the only news source that really investigates the university and university system in ND...Its almost like the press and newspapers are really against saying anything bad about the Universities...maybe I am wrong, but SAB seems to be on the ball when it comes to this stuff and you very rarely see it in the newspaper.

Again, BS...I was at UND when the Hockey teams just plain stunk (Ultimately, we fired the winningest hockey coach in Sioux history after that) and it was easy to get a ticket and the Football teams were starting to draw more and more people and the women's basketball was on a winning streak. So don't equate an Avatar to Hockey rules and therefore everything else is second - if Hockey doesn't produce, then the fans find other things to spend their money on, plain and simple. Again, blaming Football's problems on Hockey's success is idiotic and small minded...no correlation and thus no causation.

Just Win Baby! Its that simple...it will produce the recruits, the goodwill, and the butts in the seats...Give us a head coach who can win and this topic is closed. Mussman is scratching .500 after 6 years = not winning. He has to go or you will have a hard time competing with Women's volleyball for # of fans at the game - note, not a cut on the WVB, but a reminder to the FB crowd what it means to satisfy your customer - I am one of those customers and I'm not very happy with having a great tailgate and then having to throw-up at half time based on the performance. Happiness is good tailgating complimented with a good ass kicking of the other team on the field - let's try more of that recipe going forward! Lastly, any mention of the football team's problems relating to mens hockey is pure and total BS - no data, all heresay - quit using the crutch and face up to the music.
