  1. Phil Jackson was invited and returned to Williston about 10 years ago. He threw out the first pitch for the Babe Ruth World Series.
  2. Phil Jackson was back to Williston for his high school reunion. If memory serves me right it was his 40th reunion. The class social was held at a local motel. I was not in his class but was in the building during the event. He stood in the lobby of the motel signing autographs for all adults and children who had heard he was there. The Williston HS BB auditorium is named Phil Jackson Field House He also has a street named after him, Phil Jackson Way a major bypass, where there is a billboard with his photo stating “Boyhood Home of Phil Jackson. All of course done with his permission. He has given money to the Coyote Foundation
  3. Granted I am not about to try and figure out the details of how the Pairwise ratings work, but don't understand how St. Cloud can remain at #2 after a loss to #25 Miami. So much for the Pairwise killer theory. By the way Thanks Miami, Penrose Cup closer!
  4. Reason I did not want Hawks as the nickname. Example of how we are now just one of many Hawk schools, not even getting it correct
  5. Sad, sad day in so many different areas of the nickname topic. Never to be the same, will never be better. The press conference and video was also sad. Do not see nickname as a good choice amoung many other issues associated the selection IMO. Guess the students got their choice. Good luck younger generations and others who voted for the new name on trying to promote a bird as your symbol of greatness and pride for a great University.

  7. Agree with you 100%... But I think It will be the "Fighting Hawks" because there to many NoDak voters against Roughrider name. Should be a great hockey series this weekend, Hawks vs Hawks. Go Hawks. Sad so sad!
  8. I am not very familiar with the difference in quality level of the WHL compared to Division I College Hockey. The reason I am asking for an explanation I noticed ex-Sioux player Tambellini in 27 games played this year has 28 points, +12. Could he have contributed like this if he had stayed at UND? Was it a better move for him to advance his hockey career to leave and play in WHL with Calgary Hitman?
  9. I was hoping he would stay but figured he would go. Good luck Rocco, we will miss you.
  10. Nice article, enjoyed reading it. Thanks for posting.
  11. I just could not believe they were showing the NDSU BB game. I keep thinking there must be a snow storm or something because it was an outdoor game and maybe the hockey game was cancelled. A meaningless BB game over a National TV sporting event of any kind is just plain stupid. Don't give me the argument of the almighty advertising dollar either, that just does not pass the stink test. Bad Bad decision IMO.
  12. Thanks for the info. His numbers do look good, that is why I was interested in finding out more about him.
  13. Sorry if someone has mentioned this earlier in this thread but what is the story on Gage Hough, now playing for Omaha. Committed? Is he good enough to play DI hockey? Are we interested in recruiting him? Just curious.
