Bigdog42 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 When is the first day parts of North Dakota usually get their first snow? I believe the Williston area usually gets some snow in late October, the first snow may not last long but it will snow around this time. Quote
PCM Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 When is the first day parts of North Dakota usually get their first snow? Snow in late October is not unusual, but my unscientific guess is that early November is when most parts of the state get snow. The earliest I've ever seen snow was Sept. 21. The latest I've ever seen snow was mid-May. The only two months in which snow has never been recorded in North Dakota are July and August. Quote
jimdahl Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 When I read the title, I thought this was going to be a pool. I'll take October 17. Quote
Sioux-cia Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Last year the first snow fall was the night of October 5/6. Given our dry summer, my guess for the first snow fall this year is Nov. 13th. Quote
NDSU grad Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Last year the first snow fall was the night of October 5/6. Given our dry summer, my guess for the first snow fall this year is Nov. 13th. The latest I've ever seen snow is June 2nd, about an inch accumulation, gone by about noon of the same day. The earliest I've seen snow is probably late September. Quote
Siouxmama Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Snow = Hockey. Bring it on and drop that puck! Quote

sprig Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Nothing like mallards in the snow in the morning in very early October, then Sioux hockey that night (exactly what happened last year). What else does one need? Quote
dj_hoime Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 The last dry summer was in 1996 and that winter we had 100 inches of snow leading to the flood so im gonna say Oct 18. Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 North Central ND is normally around, mid October to early November, depends on the year. The latest I have seen snow was three yrs ago on May 12th. What i have heard is that in our area the only month that hasn't seen snow is July. It didn't stay in June or August which might be why it hasn't been recorded. Quote

Good grief...when I read the title of this thread, I thought that even though it's 85 and sunny in Minneapolis, that somehow, somewhere, someway, North Dakota was getting snow. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 If this is a pool (ala jimdahl) I'm taking Halloween. The weather always seems crappy on Halloween. Quote

You don't like trick or treating or taking your kids around (to include everyone) in the middle of a snow storm! That was always the best part!!! Quote
The Sicatoka Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 The weather always seems to choose "trick". Quote

I thought the same- somewhere in North Dakota was getting snow. And I live in North Dakota. Quote

dakotadan Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 If this is a pool (ala jimdahl) I'm taking Halloween. The weather always seems crappy on Halloween. When I was growing up in NW NoDak it was a given that we would get our first snowfall on Halloween. We had a 4 year stretch that the first snowfall was on Halloween. Quote

Can't believe it's already down to 32 degrees -- I just noticed how cold it is when I was checking the (similarly frigid) Madison weather for the weekend. Quote
CoteauRinkRat Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 snowed through the night, woke up to white covering everything, melting now Quote

Today I had about an inch of snow on my stairs and sidewalk. I don't know the official snow fall. Who won the poll? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 For those of you at a distance .... http://www.kx4.com The GF shot is from CAS; the Fargo shot is from near I-94 and University. Quote
