2026-27 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Both last year and this year there were 15 players on the roster who will not be the following year.   I would not have foreseen that happening for any college team a decade ago.

Anyone notice Schlossman was very adamant on the podcast from Friday about Carels being a lefty and it being important? Makes me wonder if they are close to landing a RHD already since they already have 3 lefties and 3 righties. Weird that he was so infatuated by him being left shot with even numbers… normally you’d do this if one was lopsided

Their two best defenseman, Verhoeff and Emery, are both right handed. Laurila and Mackenzie certainly have top pairing potential, but they haven’t proven it yet. He was more so saying that top 4 LHD is more of a position of need, imo.

Glad to see an exhibition with Augie on the schedule. ASU tickets will be pricey, curious how UST tickets will be. Already going to the Gopher series, but if UST demand isn't insane I might pencil that in for future years.

Austin was a bad decision for the destination game.

I just can't picture many people being excited about going to Austin for one game.
Plus, UND has had a pretty bad record in these destination games lately.  Hard to imagine a ton of people shelling out money to go watch one game.

Arena location is horrible. Deal with traffic and sprawl nowhere near the interesting stuff to do and far from the airport.

I went to Austin three years ago for training, and it was a nice city.

I didn't get down to the Boardwalk, or whatever they call it, but I've heard good things. I stayed in a place they called the Rim and it was very nice. The weather will be a lot nicer than here. They had some great restaurants. IRC, they don't have a AHL team anymore, so I suppose it will be another arena that hasn't had hockey in a while, 2020.

Biased because I live here but I'd say Austin is a better city for food and music while you're visiting here compared to say Nashville.

Timing on that Clarkson series is horrible.  Guessing we'll have quite a few gone during WJC/Spengler Cup for that series.
Might only have 3-4 dmen available depending on who our last 2 roster choices end up being.

Depending on game times, it might be possible to get to a Texas Longhorns football game.  They are home that Saturday.

Think there are still a handful of tickets left so maybe I'll get some people to go that are on the fence hahah.

The Gophers series on a Thursday/Friday is a bummer. I was hoping to go to it but I can’t since I have work. Wished one of the games would have been on Saturday.

I believe it's because they have a home football game on Saturday, which is just sad. Gopher hockey is second fiddle at best on that campus. Maybe third when basketball is good
