You have to think Dane keeps Kernan on the third line on Thursday, regardless of Ollie’s availability. Kernan has 16 points in his last 20 games. Ollie was great down the stretch too. I could see Kernan moving to wing with Ollie at center. Both are so underrated.

Yep. Gonna be very hard to figure out what to do there. I wonder if putting Ollie at 4th line center is the best option? I don't think you can break up that 3rd line after what they did in the regional, but Ollie is probably too good not to play. So to me swapping him in for Littler might make the most sense. No easy answers here though

Here's the game everyone's been talking about recently.  Phil Sykes with the hatty for the Sioux!

Surprised Michigan is already in Vegas. Denver is showing up in the afternoon (last minute) on Wednesday

Probably wanted to get their group out there early to avoid distractions on campus with their men's basketball national championship related partying

Yeah, that would specifically be University of Michigan's hierarchy.  I was talking about the overall state of Michigan / City of Detroit.  A lot of professional and college sports in Michigan, so wondering how much of a dent the Wolverines hockey team makes.

It's almost never mentioned.  I'm actually from Ann Arbor (ugh I know) and people just don't talk about college hockey with the exception of a very few.  I'd say media coverage in the metro detroit area ranks like this- Lions, Umich football, Wings / Tigers, Pistons, Umich Basketball (only if they are good) Professional golf, then college hockey, but only if something big happens.  Honestly, most of the people who just watched the basketball game last night won't even know Michgan is in the frozen four.

One example I think about alot is the night Michigan played duluth for the title in, 2011?  I had an evening beer league game and a guy on our team was wearing a Umich hockey shirt.  I asked why he wasn't watching the game and he asked "what game?".

It's tough to repeat last year's success. Your program isn't going anywhere; you'll be back.

Yeah, I expect us to continue to compete.  We all understand that last year was a perfect storm.

We are the only team that has beaten all 4 Frozen four teams though.  Tough to sit and watch as the last team out essentially.

Strangely enough, I think Minnesota also beat all of the Frozen Four teams as well.

here's a question...assuming UND doesn't win it, whats the order of Frozen Four teams you would prefer win the title from most tolerable to most annoyed if they win?

I can live with Badgers I guess? the other 2 not so much but it couldn't be scripted any better - beat Wis. and then take down either evil empire :D

"Though this will be UND's first time hosting the Frozen Four, the athletic staff has plenty of experience in the NCAA regionals."

What about the 1983 championship in Grand Forks?  I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the article.

I don't follow the NHL much, maybe if the Jets are in the playoffs I will watch their games (about the only TV coverage they get in the US is during the playoffs), but I was wondering if the NHL does any promotion college hockey (or any of their feeder systems like CHL, etc.)?  Like when I watch an NFL game, every starter names their college, which I don't think NHL starting lineups do that, but is there much mention of where players came from, either hometown or previous team?  There was a little bit during the Olympics, which was nice.

Nice story from Schloss today on the goaltenders for UND's past national championships.

I will be the jerk that fact checks him though as he has Karl beating Niagara, then Maine, then BC in 2000.  Karl was actually the backup to Andy Kollar at Mariucci arena as he was still recovering from a concussion.

Remember being pretty nervous that we weren't going to have Karl if they ended up playing New Hampshire that weekend.  Niagara's goaltender was fantastic against UNH in the one and done the day before and we got the lesser of the teams in my opinion.

Kollar was solid though and got the boys to the F4.

And when a Niagara player took two extra steps in the 3rd period so he could clobber Kollar, I went absolutely ballistic. If the rules on fighting weren't so strict, I think Mike Commodore would have wiped the ice with him.

I believe Commie did grab the guy and rag-dolled him a bit.

Yes he did. But imagine what he would have done if the rules on fighting were more lax.

They’d still be scraping him off the ice.;)

The NHL, NCAA, and College Hockey Inc should be advertising the NCAA tournament end of December start of January. The only one who will mention their college would be Bucci. McGuire would bring it up here and there but not like Bucci does.
