Sometimes it is about momentum and confidence. It is a fine line getting guys to realize your season can be over in an instance with one bad period, but sometimes a loss can hurt your confidence heading into the tournament as well. The confidence aspect is huge. Look how Western rolled through the conference tournament and nationals last year. They carried themselves like they were unbeatable, and they were right. 2 Quote

I’ve been in this position not just in Omaha but even before in the USHL when I played in Madison. We went from seventh or eighth place right to the finals. I’m pretty sure I can make it happen here again." Quote The Fighting Hawks knocked out the Mavericks in 2023 and 2025 in Omaha's Baxter Arena. "They came to our place a couple times and beat us here, so I think it’s our time to beat them there," Latkoczy said. "I am excited and I don’t have a problem playing in front of big crowds." Quote

It is very hard to win a string of post season conference and national games. If they loss right before the national tournament, they would get a recharged and be at 100 percent going into the national tournament. 11 hours ago, nodakvindy said: They already did that in tanking Saturday. I want to go in with momentum, not a loss at home. I'd also like that top seed and a game against Atlantic hockey to start the tourney. To me, there's no reason why the win streak can't start now. You've got conference playoffs in your home rink. The NCAA regional venue is in a neighboring state. And, oh yeah, you're the host institution at the first ever Las Vegas Frozen Four. 2 1 Quote

We are back, we are not the same team that faded down the stretch two years ago and we aren't going away. We also have a Penrose Cup to celebrate in front of our home crowd. So Mr. Latkoczy, get ready to face a lot of rubber this weekend. And be prepared to have your season end on Saturday night. 2 Quote

Let’s stick to Schloss’ reverse jinx theme and keep highlighting how unbeatable Latkoczy will be in the playoffs. I don’t see him letting in a single goal all weekend. 😏 Quote
hockeytherapy13 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I haven't listened to the pod yet this week but I was doing a peeking at the last 3 weekends of Omaha's box scores. In the last 6 games they are 33% on the power play and 88% on the PK. Obviously their overall numbers are underwhelming but they appear to be a team who has progressed throughout the season. So let's play this series 5x5 please. 2 Quote
