This is surprise but she may have received offer else where for more money or support.i can’t imagine anybody offering  more playing time but maybe place where she can playing for conference championship or at least shot at the post season. Who knows why the reason could be personal or even to play closer to home.  I am sad see her leave but you need to be committed if she isn’t there’s nothing you can do look at number of players in the portal. I think it’s mistake being in portal now 2 straight years generally not how to build career in women’s basketball.

I see Ohnstad has withdrawn from the portal which I take is that she will be still with team.  Of the three players I think she has greatest potential and I think she could become solid player. Has offensive abilities to be consistent scorer but needs to work on her defense and if she does that would gain significant playing time.

not with the team just staying to keep her scholarship

It's been a long time since I was in school so a lot has changed.

I assumed you kept your scholarship through the end of the semester even if you entered the portal.  Is her scholarship protected beyond that if she isn't with the team? Or are you referring to other scholarships beyond basketball?

up until a year ago only power 5 schools scholarship  was gauranteed for 4 years meaning if you were asked to leave the team based on performance or playing time or any reason non disciplinary you could stay at the school under scholarship and they had to honor it until you graduate, when rev share was implemented that rule was extended for all d1 basketball teams, so yes its very possible staying enrolled at UND under scholarship not on team!!! im surprised it doesn't happen more often but most poeple wanna play, so to answer your question yes her scholarship is protected as is every player's on the team that doesn't transfer, keep in mind you cant quit the team and keep the scholarship you have to be asked to leave based off performance playing time or something else non disciplinary, if its something for discipline or acedemic reasons they don't honor your scholarship if you stay at the school, so in closing she will keep her scholarship at UND if in fact she was asked to leave based on performance or playing time or any other non disciplinary reason

I was very surprised to see this.

after 28 games starting she was releived of a starting spot the last 2 games of the year, why is this a shock, a coach who doesn't want you to enter the portal doesn't bench a player with 2 games left unless he's telling her yaaaa go ahead and get yourself in that portal, i mean let's be honest if you were a wbb player at UND and you started 28 games in a row were the radio stations player of the game multiple times throughout the season had multiple double double performances throughout the season then was benched the last 2 games, no would you sign yourself up for the dumpster fire again or would you wanna go somewhere you were wanted and valued as the player you are and as a human being instead of being told you aren't good enough??? pretty easy decision if you ask me

We need a few more in the portal. I wonder if Hutter is pushing some of these out ? He should be

yeah because he's showed so much promise so far bringing in a d1 level player, he's lost every offer at that level to someone else

Why would you expect him to win recruiting battles when he’s (according to you) not officially the head coach?

interim head coach who has yet to be offered a contract to sign, had he signed said contract it would be immediately released by the schools media, no release no contract

So again, why are you blaming him for losing recruiting battles?

Just pointing out this is a UND fan site. You have had your time and made your points. It appears you could find a better use of your time.
