WJC - 2026

Zellers should be top 6 on this team. Nothing can convince me otherwise. Mooney on top pp did nothing but hold pucks way too long. He’s skilled, but again, doesn’t really play a team game.

How do you not put Zellers on the squad after the chemistry he had withe Lee?

I get its just Germany in an exhibition.  Better test ahead with the Finns.

What’s funny is that Connelly got dinged up and they moved Lee up. This was sometime in the second.

With how his current season is going, now (that the whole hockey world is watching) is not the time to get cute with his roster/deployment. Last night was fairly obvious there was favoritism going on.

Speaking of WJC coaches. If Canada somehow implodes again this year, I could think of a coach in Grand Forks with some Canadian ties to lead the team next year... (they'd never do it though)

A lot of pressure on Motzko.  US is back to back gold medel champs and playing in front of MN crowd.  I have low expectations from a Matzko lead team.  Sad to say but Carle is the best coach in the country for this age group.

Hockey Canada likes to use their guys. Maybe one day they will pick a NCAA coach, but I highly doubt it will ever happen.

I really used to like Motzko, but he has aged out. The guy is clown. We should be surprised at questionable decisions being made by a guy that has the Gophers where they are at despite being loaded with talent. I love to hate the Gophers but they are more fun to hate when they are either good or maybe slightly struggling ... seeing them sit at 8-10-1 and unranked is just sad .... especially since we dropped a game to them.

 

Whomever said Carle is better for this age group is spot on. But USA hockey makes a lot of dumb decisions.

I wouldn't mind to see Team USA rotate with Carle and Leaman.  Its a lot to be away from your team with all that goes on in an NCAA season.  

Funny the two coaches that seem to have the least amount of success are Gopher Bob and #gobc heart throb Scott Sandelin.

Got to but cuts on the way as we inch towards Christmas.

I'd like to see Ben Barr get in and then obviously Smaby and JPL getting some assistant roles.
