He is talking about the following: In 2024 the Dakota schools and the MVFC worked on a scheduling agreement that would balance out the schedules. As an example: SDSU would play UND/USD at home one year and then play NDSU at home the next year. This change was implemented in 2025 which cause some schools to travel to same school twice. In this case, SDSU had to travel to UND in both 2024 and 2025. UND was scheduled to play at Brookings in 2026 and then rotate going forward. Then NDSU ran away to FBS and it presented the same problem for the remaining Dakota schools. So to balance the schedules again, SDSU is traveling to Grand Forks for the third year in a row and SDSU fans have been grousing at the situation. Yes, in jest. I'm positive that SDSU admin volunteered to go to GF notwithstanding it being something of a house of horrors for SDSU over the years. I can see wanting UND and JSD coming to town in alternating years, the theory being going forward they will be the biggest draw on the calendar. I have no idea if the Whioux will draw - it's been so long - but not even parents and boyfriends watch JSD in Vermillion and as of now, only ISUb, in late November, has fewer tickets sold than a Halloween game with JSD. Meanwhile, we already have 19k tickets sold for Stetson, New Haven and Eastern Illinois, 18k for Murray State, which will sell out for Hobo Day, and 17k for the penguins, which, being early season, and Dairy Drive promo, will eventually sell out. I assume JSD will sell out if the Jacks perform as expected and/or JSD surprises, eventually. But there hasn't been a lot of red at DJD even with JSD improved last few years. Quote

I’ve got tickets for the SDSU/USD game on Halloween—it should be a really good game. I think the USD quarterback is going to surprise quite a few teams in the MVFC this year. If they can retool the offensive line, USD’s offense is going to be a handful. SDSU always sells a lot of tickets early in the season. It’s the harvest, pheasant, deer, and cold-weather weekends that tend to hurt SDSU attendance. Quote
USELESS Poll Posted Wednesday at 12:40 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:40 PM Greetings from the hot and humid suburbs of Atlanta. I'm a sports editor and the former beat writer for Georgia Southern. I have always loved college football and have taken up doing a half-satire/half-serious weekly poll on my substack. Each season I come up with a random item to include in each week's poll and this season I'm going with tailgate food or local establishments that a random visitor to your school would remember if they ever came to town for a game. The vast majority of my poll focuses on FBS and most of my subscribers are in the southeast, so with more FCS than FBS games on the docket this week, I wanted to find a place where my FBS friends would never find themselves. If you want to pitch a popular food/location at UND, I'm all ears... even better if there's any backstory behind it. Here's a link to one of last season's posts: https://substack.com/home/post/p-178302341 Not trying to self-promote. It's free for everyone and just wanted to show that I at least back up my weird love of college football with a few thousand words each week. Feel free to leave your suggestions and good luck this season! 2 1 Quote

USELESS Poll Posted Wednesday at 02:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:12 PM I don't see a DM option here, but feel free to email me at mike.anthony24@gmail.com Same goes to anyone else. Like I said. I just want this to be a fun new angle this season. And no pressure, but I've also reached out to SDSU to make sure I get a solid FCS representation for this week's poll. Quote

I think most UND fans hate Montana, but we don't play them often enough. The SDSU player laughing on the sideline after a targeting call when he delivered a hit to the head of our WR, while he was still laying on the turf was a good start. 4 Quote

AJS Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago What would be the long term ROI on an extra million a year to the FB budget? Or you might be able to make it work with an extra $500 to $600k. Everything is in place and we’ll see this program improve year after year. It’s critical that this administration realizes that the only thing stopping that is Schmidt leaving before the program is a well oiled machine (think Jacks). We need him through 2030. It should be the athletic departments #1 priority to lock him up long term. I would think between 600 and 700k, 8 years with huge buyouts for these first handful of years. Extra $ on top of that, give assistants a raise as well. 4 Quote

Anyone competent and who truly wants UND athletics to succeed and take the next step knows this needs to be priority #1… Lockdown the UND football coaching staff, namely the head coach. They extended the hockey coach already (figures), but now we’ll see if Armacost and Chaves truly have foresight and awareness of collegiate athletics or not … 3 Quote
