UND Fighting Hawks Versus SDSU Saturday November 22nd

It is curious how we go from an up the gut play against the Bison on 4th down with the game on the line, to a low percentage bomb to the end zone against SDSU.  Nothing in between to choose from?  Is Isaac going to get indignant again and say he would do the exact same thing as he did about the 3 failed attempts at the goal line against the Bison?

Most likely, doesn’t seem to want to learn from his mistakes.

Feeling that UND will be 1st team left out. I also think if UND would've won that game in OT, I also think even in regulation that SDSU would've made the field with name recognition and historical. 

UND is the best team that will be left out of the field with combined 17(?) pt in their 5 losses with all 4 of the FCS losses to ranked teams and 2 of them being top 5.

The thing that has annoyed me about this season was how 4 of the 5 losses were games that we were in the driver seat, absolutely should've extended leads with opportunities and then fall flat and lose. 

 

The Bubba era tradition was to fall behind early, stay behind, then at the end make attempt for a big comeback and that typically only works so many times. 

This was the only loss I believe, or at least outside of the USD game that the FG unit was not an issue. Also the 4 losses we have away all involved the opponent to be on their heels in what feels like last chance to do something or they were done and then draw a DPI on UND. Questionable calls at KState, Montana, and believe NDSU, just terrible coverage today on both attempts.

Let them hang around too long. Had chances to push the lead and couldn’t.  Offense was dreadful for last month or so.  Was good to see us finally execute scoring drive late.  
 

Their OL and DL are monsters. We didn’t move their DL much at all.  Hate the long bomb on 4th down when only need a few.

yep...but the easiest one should've been montana....make the damn xp....then have the confidence in your kicker before halftime to make a kick a d1aa kicker hsould make...

The OL had one of their worst games today. Defense while made the stops, way underperformed against a beat up OL and team that couldn't run the ball. However they still out performed the offense in total game. Unfortunate that Henry fumbled a split second after being down or game may look way different. However, Jacks scored off of the terrible play call and worse execution of the fumble by Jerry. Our interception led to a FG only.

low low low % plays on 4th down are ike's staple....back shoulders, bombs, gut runs.  love it

So we are all in agreement that nobody gets super edgy if they don't put us in tomorrow?  

Even Kelly has come to terms with it. 

Obituary on the season to come tomorrow post selection show I'm guessing.

Absolutely. We used to have a kicker that seemed automatic on XP but struggled with any other FGs as well. No idea how we keep doing that, but the Packers can't make XP either in the NFL so some reason people are liking Kickers who aren't sure thing accurate.

I also think we need an influx of talent.  Schmidt is getting a lot out of them but we wore down late in year.  Also noticed a few times with NDSU and SDSU where they had guys on D come out of nowhere and flew to the ball and punished the guy with the ball.  We don’t have those guys that I know of.

All I can say is when you play offense not to lose, and the other team is playing defense to win you lose….result not good. 

Overtime, I wish we tried to let them kick a FG to tie instead of trying to force the turnover.
