How does a team that has never had the 1st overall pick and finishes last not get the 1st. NHL needs the PWHL rules, once you are out you need to win to improve your odds. Quote

No they need a draft like the NFL based on the worst record. Hockey players don’t tank. The lottery is not fair and makes people lose interest in the draft. Look how popular the NFL draft is. If the NFL was dumb enough to have a lottery it would not be as popular. The NHL and NBA can’t get out of their own way 1 Quote

They definitely looked better tonight but you can't keep putting the Avs on the power play. Kaprizov with a total bonehead play with a cross check right after the Wild got it to 4-2. 1 Quote

Wilbur Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago It would've been better to go with Gus in game one off the Dallas series then to throw him in last night and the first two shots go in the net. Jesper back in for game 3 which is must win #4 now for the Wild. Quote
cberkas Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago The Maple Leaf's are going to be insufferable until the draft. Oh, hockey gods give them the next two #1 picks just for them to lose them to Philly and Boston Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago what's wrong with the non playoff teams...nfl nhl whatever....put your logo in a square white folder and you spin them around and pull em out.... no weighted this...no extra ping pong balls....just throw em in...pull em out one at a time. Quote
cberkas Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Miss the playoffs twice in 11 years and get #1 pick both times If you finish last you should get 90% odds at #1 if doing a lottery. If you keep the lottery put in anti-tanking like the PWHL, or just get rid of it. The NHL needs bad teams to not stay bad, or you have an Arizona situation all over again. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago <in a Grain Belt fueled fever dream> McDavid, Jarry, a first round pick for Vasi and Hedman then TBL turns around and trades Jarry, the first round pick, and Dom James for Bob of Florida Yeah, yeah, I'm crazy. Quote
sioux rube Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The NHL informed teams that the salary cap for the 2026-27 season will rise to $104 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The increase aligns with the league's previous projections and is a notable jump from the $95.5-million limit this season. Teams will have to spend a minimum of $76.9 million to reach the salary-cap floor, while the maximum player salary (20% of a team's payroll) will be $20.8 million, Friedman notes. As it stands, the highest cap hit in the league next season belongs to Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov, who signed a record-setting $136-million ($17-million annual cap hit) extension last September. Although teams across the league will have more flexibility this offseason, the 2026 free-agent class isn't expected to inspire a spending spree. Alex Tuch, Sergei Bobrovsky, and Darren Raddysh are among the most prominent players set to hit the open market this summer Quote
