In fact, since they not only recruit nationally but also regionally, I would say that generally recruiting just got a little tougher for UND and MN. That's based on the assumption that the Hastings group is better at both recruiting and coaching than their predecessors. Hastings recruited a lot of over-agers/late bloomers at Mankato? Not sure how they will do recruiting against the other blue bloods, although, UW historically a top program. Quote
cberkas Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Ben Kevan commits to Arizona State. They also added a Slovakian goalie Samuel Urban. Seems like more and more Slovakians are playing NCAA now. Quote
brianvf Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Sounds like Lindberg is down to UND and DU for his final two. Would be nice to get all three of the F/M boys. 4 Quote

DU has a track record for letting smaller skill guys play. Makes sense they’re in the running. I’m hoping we get him as well. He’s always been a fun player to watch. 1 Quote
scpa0305 Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I doubt we were in on him but Shane Vansaghi committed to Mich State. Benefits of hiring for NTDP coach I assume, they’ve had a very solid recruiting year. Quote

The B10 might be more tightly contested this year. Quote
scpa0305 Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Ryker Lee to Mich State…great commit. Not really a blue chip but I think this kid will be a high end college player. Late bloomer but skill is off the charts. I was hoping we were in on him. Kind of reminds me of Blake. Quote

Although Notre Dame has always confused me a bit. If I’m an offensive/skill guy…that’s the last place I’d be going. Michigan seems like a logistical destination for them. The one brother is a one and done anyways. Quote
brianvf Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Talk about waiting until the last minute to enter the transfer portal: Quote

Apparently you can’t enter the portal after a certain date without a coaching change so it seems the coach on administrative leave is enough to qualify as a coaching change. Mike McMahon from CHN had this in his newsletter. Swankler is not one of the suspended players. Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Swankler shouldn't even be playing college hockey to begin with, as much as I disagree with why. Quote

Agreed. Unsigned players should be free to play CHL hockey and then go NCAA if they are unsigned. (Especially since those football players are making major money already) But rules are rules no matter how stupid. No idea how he got clearance in the first place. Quote

It seems like they are now coming down harder on people, like the guy at Western who missed a season and had to pay his income back. Quote

Hardly an all-encompassing list for sure, I think he meant it mainly for recruits that would be recruited by every college and recruits that he knew that UND and other nearby schools would be after. 1 Quote
