Not much of a surprise, but the gopher beat writer confirms that the sioux are part of AJ Michaelson's WCHA tour: http://www.startribune.com/blogs/91773054....QiU17cQiU47cQUU

Could be the typical metro area kid that goes through the motions before he decides to stay home, but there is always a chance he sees something he likes in another program more than the gooferland.

We've had plenty of TC players end up here, especially the past 5 years.

Gino really didn't recruit the TC - Blais was able to get more TC players to consider UND. Hak has gotten more and more TC players with more on the way.

Now, unless a player has a family connection to UMTC, we are on every TC player's list.

Was at the Fargo Force game last night, game 3 of Western Finals. I was disapointed in the play of Colten St. Clair. Is he a verbal commit or did he sign a LOI?

I am very impressed by Mankato's freshman class memebers for next year. Chase Grant is a machine. His Hat trick was impressive but his play off the puck was great. He never stopped trying to make a play. I hate saying it but for a brief second I was jealous of MSUM, then I remembered, ITS MANKATO!!

You have to take into consideration that those three are either 2 or 3 years older than St. Clair, and Chase Grant will turn 21 in August.

St. Clair is going to see at least another year in the USHL, if not two.

That said, MSU-Mankato does look to have a good number of skilled kids coming in.

I was at the game last night, St. Clair didn't have his best game, should have buried an open net midway through the 3rd period. Have to remember that he is still only 17 years old, he'd be a junior in high school. I've seen him play a lot this year, he is a very good player and will be a good player for the Sioux.

As I was preparing to go to lunch today I looked out my office window and saw Coach Jackson and some individual who looked to be getting a personalized visit by the coach. My guess is that he was showing a recruit around the campus. By the time I thought to snap a picture they were both headed to Squires Hall to eat. Anyone know of any recruits who are visiting this week? It wasn't a current or former sioux player. This kid looked like he was no more then 17.

Update. Just did a quick look to see what AJ Michaelson looks like and the kid I saw with Jackson looked a lot like Michaelson but I can't be 100%. The kid I saw was kind of tall but probably not as tall as Jackson. He looked like a 10th or 11th grader and certainly had dark to dark brown hair and no facial hair. This is the picture I am going from as well. http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/roster_player/s...subseason=16427

This is the picture I am going from as well. http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/roster_player/s...subseason=16427

seems apple valley has 2 future wcha stars, bring them both in hak :(

the other will be incoming sophmore hudson fasching

6'3 215 lbs as a freshman last year :whistling:

I was at the game last night, St. Clair didn't have his best game, should have buried an open net midway through the 3rd period. Have to remember that he is still only 17 years old, he'd be a junior in high school. I've seen him play a lot this year, he is a very good player and will be a good player for the Sioux.

Jonny Toews was scoring 20 goals in the WCHA when he was 17.

Just being a smart a$$. I'm sure St Clair is a good player.

i agree and bring Walters in too

Wow Hudson is huge for 9th grader.....please come to UND

walters would be a nice late addition if there was room. rodwell is for sure coming in and then nelson seems like a 50/50 right now and that should be it with 2 forwards wth the roster situation. maybe just rodwell comes in, who knows

Sounds like a good problem to have......What you think of HUdson? Who else do we have a eye on

Both Apple Valley kids are great players and have very good size. Michaelson was the #1 rated sophomore player in the state and Fasching was the #2 ranked freshman in the state. Both would be great pick-ups, if I were to guess I would say Minnesota is probably pretty high on both their lists as well. I know Apple Valley played at tournament in Stadstad Tourny in Grand Forks last year and I believe they will again next year so it could be a good chance to see these two great players live.

According to a few experts on uscho and gpl, if we were to bring in Walters we might lose Mattson. According to them the only reason mattson chose UND over Minnesota was because Walters was going there.

(just thinking out loud here, maybe we bring in Walters, Mattson decommits and our logjam problem at D takes care of itself and the Gophers still look like the bad guys.....just not sure we would want Mattson to bolt to Minnesota)

if thats the case then the difference is that walters is ready this season and d mattson is another year of juniors until ready. interesting situation

The other posters were referring to Nick Mattson, not Danny.

Supposedly Nick didn't get along with Walters, so that was the tipping point in him committing to UND over UMN.

I've read elsewhere that Nick was a big UND fan prior to his commitment, so I'm sure how much stock should be put in those other comments.
