Colin Grubb (2009, Minot, ND native, Shattuck St Mary's AAA) has taken an unofficial visit to North Dakota per Ryan Sikes of Puck Preps on Instagram. August 1 2025 commitment eligible.

Guessing Colin Grubb won't be committing on or shortly after August 1. But certainly someone we all should have on our checklist

Can’t lose this one. Would be nice to add a Nodak native.

top 2009 and 2010 talent not going to commit right away...kings going to be looking for sacks of cash

Would expect many of the top (normal bday) US 2009s will commit pretty quickly. I think all of the late bday US 2008s will commit right away since they've been waiting awhile. Guys like Wyatt Cullen, Tyler Martyniuk, Luca Jarvis, Kade Meyer.

That's nice but we need someone for this upcoming season too.

I guess I’m more curious about next season too…however my hunch is the last spot will be a depth add…senior like the last one.

Is this a big get?

Not projected to be a high draft pick, but should bring a lot of energy and skill.  Someone mentioned a Stecher-like player.

Undrafted his first two years of eligibility…small chance he’ll get drafted next summer. Maybe though, he’s dealt with a ton of injuries.

Would be nice if Dayne Beuker (2008) made up his mind about where he'll commit. Was elite in minor hockey in Saskatchewan, had a very good, but not elite u17 year with the NTDP. There's been speculation on if he'd leave the NTDP and go to the Dub (Lethbridge owns his rights), and it's been quiet on the NCAA recruiting front for him.

Goalie Mason Courville out of PA follows Nodak and Penn State on insta (assuming he's an August 1 2026 commit based on his birth date). Looks like he's headed to Flint next year in the OHL.

Based on the way the US has been producing goalies compared to Canada the past few years the CHL is gona reap the rewards of any US goalies they can swing up North for JR before they jump to the NCAA.

Did a quick stat dive to compare the CHL to the NCAA for goalies with a .910 and above (seems to check out with the scoring being higher in the CHL)

NCAA - 42 (compared to 24 in the CHL)

OHL - 6 (NCHC had 7 goalies alone with a 0.910 above)

WHL - 8

Q - 10

Part of the reason why so many Canadian goalies have sucked is because they’ve gone the major junior route, and most of the CHL (yes even the Dub), lacks solid defensive structure and the goalies get lit up like a shooter tutor. Also, CHLers under the old rules were forced to turn pro at 20/21 years old, and most of em aren’t good enough to breakthrough into the A at that age, forcing them into the Coast or complete bust status.

If more of even the decent Canadian goalies went the NCAA route like Devon Levi did, I think they’d have better results in pro. The new rules allowing CHLers to play in the NCAA should really help Canadian goalies. I fully expect Josh Ravensbergen (2007) to go to the NCAA before he turns pro, as Jack Ivankovic (2007) will be doing at Michigan.

Bryn and Mathis Preston have recently followed each other on instagram. Preston, who has been mentioned on here before, is a top 5-10 prospect in the 2026 NHL draft. He is one of, if not, the top 2008 left on the board. He does not follow UND hockey but follows BC and Penn State.

He had a great U17 tourney for Canada...on the same team as Verhoeff.
Verhoeff was the leading Dman scorer for them...Preston was the leading goal scorer.
