I was referring to revenue sources that we are have not yet tapped into.

The traditional sources are not going to be enough in the future. They are barely adequate now.

UND should definitely explore charitable gaming at Short or Tall. I see the Spud Jr's new gaming now goes to the Grand Forks Children's Museum that is still in fundraising stage.

so if a bar has gambling it's automitcailly tied to a non profit?

Low tier bowl games are going extinct in the near future. They are money losers, don't offer enough exposure to be worth it and players who are looking ahead to the NFL draft don't want to get hurt in what is (to them) a meaningless game.

Football will always have subdivisions. Once the P4 decide they want their own playoff and don't want G6 schools "polluting it", you will have a G6 playoff tournament. It is only a matter of time.

Hawks Nest is a great name idea. I conjured that name up myself awhile back (great minds think alike). 

Before a 501c is formed however, we need to figure out where our revenue will come from. That is the difference between being competitive or not.

if the g6 doesn't have a seat at the 1a table are they still consdiered 1a...asking for a school that just bet 17.5 million they are or will be.....

The problem is that local charitable organizations have all the bars/clubs locked up.  If UND would try to replace one of them, it would not be a popular move.

Short or Tall is brand new which is why it could work for UND. I brought up the Spud Jr because theirs being for the Children’s Museum seems like a new non profit that the gaming is supporting in town. So, it’s possible to have different non profits supported outside of the current ones. 
 

Im not an expert though so maybe someone else can correct me if wrong.

I can't speak for Grand Forks, but Fargo-West Fargo is a battle royale.  Like the day new possible locations open up or contracts expire there are lines at the door if you've got your paperwork in order.

I'm the last one to know the legalities of how it all works.  Like its been said before, its a whole new world in collegiate athletics.

The on campus part I get, but the students are going to gamble regardless if they want to. If it’s an option they should do it.

I asked this question to someone at the basketball game on Saturday and they said that it's not on campus? They do serve alcohol so why would gambling be where they draw the line?

The building isn't owned by UND, but it is built on UND property.  Not sure what rights UND retained regarding tenants.

I think there's a limit as to how many gaming licenses are available in GF.   I'm sure that heavily regulated as much as liquor licenses.   That's why there's such a battle to get those spots.
