I do know that the talent level compared to the ndac isn't what it should be (and it's not even close) after 20 years of playing catchup and for guys like you that know that and won't speak up about how simon wouldnt even get a pwo at ndac or sdac or usd and yet he started and failed miserably last year and that he might ...might start again is alarming....but the duckies and bunnies are eternally optimistic on here

And i do know that throwing a sluggo td in a preseaon game should happen more considering the safety and db are more than likely going to be workng at best buy or wearing orange jumpsuits in a month and they all want a pick 6 and ESPN time....Mattress Miller still sucks...

Remember this TD....i think the midget and the madman scissored or at least 69'd after this play in the press box in SF...and we know where he's at now.

Not completely shocking that a RS-Fr wasn't game ready compared to someone who is in their fourth year in the program. If that was actually the case, plenty of blame to go around.

However there is zero argument from anyone that he should have seen the field more and the OC admitted as much after the fact. Throw him into the fire and see what you have when the lights are on.

Whether hindsight shows the decisions were right or wrong, the coaches are doing what gives them the best chance to win games. Their jobs kind of depend on that...

We had an overly conservative head coach. Now we have an aggressive one. Let’s just see how things play out as a result. I expect more of an edge this year and a lot of success in years 2 and 3.

I'm not sure if conservative accurately described Bubba....conservative coaches don't go for it on 4 and 1 on their own 20 with the lead and triple reverses on 3rd and 1....and multiple trick plays every game.

Not to be an armchair coach here, but Bubba had an incredible talent of playing it safe when he obviously should’ve pushed and then was aggressive at the worst possible times, when his conservative nature would’ve finally actually fit. Brutal to watch. It was like he had zero feel for momumtem.

Sure, it worked out for him occasionally, but more often it just made him look out of touch and it cost them games they should’ve won. They lost a lot of games where they had better talent across the board but just got flat-out outcoached...especially late in the season.

exactly...how many times on here were we begging for more Z (conservative) and instead he's doing flea flickers and triple reverses (aggressive)...maddening.

The thing is it wasn't even a shot at Bubba.  Every year there are things you look to improve from the previous year.  New players come in from both the Portal and recruiting.  There are always thing you are emphasizing.  Of course you need to make changes from the previous regime otherwise what would be the point of a coaching change.
