How many ncaa wins in last 9 years as well? They mention that? 3 Quote

That's crap. Denver fired Gwozdecky in part because of lack of national success in his later years. Results matter. Whether it's UND or Denver or any other high level collegiate athletic program. 4 Quote
yzerman19 Posted Wednesday at 03:30 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:30 AM NCAA tourney is one and done. !@#$ happens. You lose sometimes with the best team and you win sometimes without the best team. The big deal is you have to get to the dance. We need to get there every season and we need a coach who gets chippahs in a pipeline. Parise and Toews were the two most coveted recruits in college hockey and we got them. 4 Quote

I guess they lost Eiserman, but its not the same. Recruiting non Minnesotans is pretty rare at Minnesota, Raboin sealing the deal on one super elite guy and another who became a super elite guy is very impressive. 2 Quote
yzerman19 Posted Wednesday at 03:34 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:34 AM the thing is chippahs beget chippahs...without the first, you lose the second and third. They all want to play together. Look at what BC and BU and MI have done...loaded teams with chippahs. Yeah, they didn't win it all, but damn...I bet that fan base is still juiced and looking forward to next season...2 are still alive this year, and loaded with WJC and 1st round talent... Quote

Any merit to that story? 3 Quote

nascar99 Posted Wednesday at 03:36 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:36 AM At this point, I just want Jackson, Raboin, or whoever the hell North Dakota hires to be able to adapt to modern hockey & hockey players, recruit high end players from all over the world, and balance that with finding culture guys who will play hard every night for 3-4 years. Get back to the UND way of being tough to play against, and not struggling against freakin Miami and the like. 2 Quote

Enough of this "one and done" baloney. It's just an excuse. Denver doesn't seem to have a problem winning Natty's. Three national titles since our last in 2016. That isn't "luck", that's good recruiting, development and game planning. Something we used to be good at Jackson may end up being a home run hire. I just don't want Berry 2.0 4 Quote

The same group probably said the same thing about Lucia, Gasparini, Berenson, and probably York feeling the pressure. What happened to those programs that had become irrelevant after the changes? I would argue that becoming irrelevant in the age of NIL would be far more detrimental than people on the fringe looking from the outside and not seeing the actual culture change that has happened. When you aren’t winning and you have major locker room issues on two separate occasions, you have to look a little deeper. 2 Quote

yzerman19 Posted Wednesday at 03:43 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:43 AM I reiterate, despite those who question me, that the number one thing we must do is make UND the destination where guys want to go to get to the NHL. We will not compete on overall campus experience, and we will not compete on academics. It must be, if you are a chippah, you need to come here to go pro and not ride a bus. This is it, pure and simple. then, we need to throw NIL $ at them and help them make it. 4 Quote

Sitting at a table with a bunch of the players, I asked them for their quick takes on the other WCHA teams and when I asked about Minnesota, they universally said things like, arrogant, prima donnas, chirpers. When I asked for their take on North Dakota, they all said things like, tough, physical, etc and one guy went so far as to say something to the effect of, UND doesn’t talk much, they just go out there and hit you in the mouth. I loved that! It gave me a sense of pride for UND hockey hearing a bunch of players from another program talk about Sioux hockey that way. I hope we can get back to having that kind of identity. 3 10 Quote

It's what our fan base used to care about. We have gotten soft and complacent over the years. It's very disheartening. And I honestly care more about the success of this program than what our players do at the next level. I honestly don't care about the NHL. This isn't an AHL franchise. If it's Jackson, I will root for him and the team like always. But if he doesn't have a plan to turn this around, we'll be having this conversation again in a couple of years 2 Quote
