Maybe it would work out like when Gino was promoted to replace Bjorkman.

Jackson would have to prove he isn't Berry 2.0

Give him a 3 year contract and see what’s up

3 year with a 4th year option. Has two years of he doesn’t workout in the first two years they have a year to find a replacement

If Jax is the guy, lets change up the assistants.

KEM pulled the trigger on the buyout and firing. She is getting ready to donate large $ for NIL and told Chaves BB had to go.

Bring back Jack if we can’t have hak

So the person that hated Hak, wanted Chaves to be the AD, wanted Schweigert over DeBoer, and was all about Berry initially, now wants Jackson.  Too lazy to look back on how you felt about Brewster. Well, with that history I am sure things will work out smoothly, or sometime within the first year expect you to be opening the Fire Jax thread!

According to some rumblings in the grapevine...BB was totally blindsided, and did not think his termination was eminent

Much like Bubba, he was under the assumption that UND gave out lifetime contracts

If it ends up being Jackson, the major frustration will be that this process seemed like a complete joke. Rumors started Monday that he was the frontrunner and haven’t stopped. If you read between the lines, Schlossman has been hinting for days it’s him. I would feel way better if after days and days of interviews and narrowing down the scope, Jackson was the guy. No issues. Either nobody applied or Chaves mailed it in. Crazy that apparently nobody could go head to head with Dane Jackson and his incredibly accomplished head coaching resume.

They have to.  What is the point of firing Berry if you keep the rest of them?

It is NOT "pretty common practice" to open the job up publicly to external applicants and then do a 180 and go internal.

That's called incompetence and lack of planning.

Chaves has run this department into the ground. Is that "pretty common practice" too?

Maybe he'll stumble into making a good hire, but I don't have much confidence in that.

Just curious what your experience in hiring is? Especially high level positions? And when you're just guessing on small portions of the information on what's going on inside the walls?

The pretended expertise in this thread is hilarious.

Yes, just enough time to where the Kalen DeBoer type option will have taken a position at a major school, thus leading UND to take the safe bet of one of the assistants at the time.

If this is true, I would do a 180 so fast. If she’s donating large $ for NIL and wants Jax, let’s party.

It doesn't take expertise to know how the big schools fire & hire.

You mean like the pretended expertise of an AD that has it’s sports programs all failing and needing wholesale coaching changes?

Could be Jackson, could be Blashill, could be Raboin, could be a dark horse nobody saw coming who knows.  This thread is pure entertainment right now.   Prediction:  no matter who the HC is this team will win at least one game in the NCAA tournament next year.

Just keep shilling for this horribly run department. You think you sound like the responsible adult in the room, but all you sound like is Chaves' waterboy.

By the way, please tell us again about those amazing Alston Awards. :silly:

I wouldn't be so sure. Wife is a UND grad. I think both sets of grandparents are in Detroit Lakes area. Sometimes that's a big deal with young kids.

Or sometimes you want to move to get further away from the mother in law.   It can go both ways with stuff like that.

Just curious anyone’s thoughts on Kris Mayotte? He was name dropped in Schlossman’s article. I’m sure a long shot for a variety of reasons but it definitely caught my eye when I saw that. A dark horse for sure.

Was that dependent on hiring Jax, or just firing Berry?

He's an intriguing option, that's for sure.
