Our NIL is going to have to be better than many, many programs too. Fill me in again about NIL money. Is it all on the shoulders of the fan base or is it also on the Athletic department? Should the AD be doing something to actively raise funds? Quote

Maybe the reason BB isn't is because he already has a sizable war chest from private donors that the public isn't aware of. Who knows, NIL isn't transparent & it's difficult for the public to know with certainty what's happening in the back rooms. Not going to lose sleep over NIL ... it can be a nice addition for the program; but a savvy coach like Ferschweiler or Carle who can recruit & develop the right players is infinitely more important than flashing the latest Canadian phenom with big wads of cash. And if a player's first priority is an exorbitant amount of money, one should question if that player will be fully invested in the team & will do anything to help it succeed. I agree with you on this. However, I do want to have that particular card in our back pocket to play whenever it is necessary. So I really hope the 1883 collective becomes that ace in the hole for us 1 Quote

southpaw Posted March 20 Posted March 20 When a player comes to UND, they're only given a one year scholarship. So, if the school can decide to move on after one year, why shouldn't the player also have that opportunity? Quote

I have seen scholarship offers, and they are not limited to one year. 1 Quote

Am wondering though, how can you be certain that your donation will go specifically to the hockey team & not some other sport, like football? 1 Quote

It allows you to select which sport you want your contribution to go to in the checkout. 1 Quote
brianvf Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Looks like the collective gets 15% of each contribution and your selected sport gets 85% of it. Quote
brianvf Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Sandy had a good 40+ min end of season press conference for UMD. Talked about transfers and his hatred of the portal, plus how his team will shape up in future years. He said that he doesn't know what his roster will look like next year at all because he doesn't know how many players will hit the portal. Wouldn't coaches have a really good idea of who might hit the portal or sign pro contracts? I know some might be surprises, but certainly not all. I mean, if us as fans are hearing rumors, I have to think that coaches would hear the same stuff and be able to act on it and discuss with the players beforehand. I know the coaches have end of season discussions with all the players, but I would imagine they could attempt to act on it before it gets to that point. Like if Berry thought there was a chance that some impact players were thinking of leaving, he needs to be going full court press on those guys to "recruit" them back for another season. You know, just basic roster management stuff. 1 Quote

Godsmack Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Huge hole for CC to fill. Now we wait on what will happen with Veinbergs and Mbereko. I don’t believe any other CC players are early flight risks. 1 Quote
