Unfortunately not crazy. Pretty much par for the course. After watching the Canada-Finland game last night, Sasha is certainly as good as any of that forward group. So stupid he's not there. Quote

Wood was cut from that team and he's doing better. Quote

Canada passed on quite a few players including one that leads the OHL in scoring. I think a lot of these coaches are like Herb was when he choose the '80 Olympic team, and we know how many excellent players he left off that team Quote

My point was that Sasha certainly looks like he would have fit with the team talent wise. Quote

brianvf Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 https://www.flohockey.tv/articles/13327487-what-we-learned-from-usas-10-4-win-over-germany-in-world-juniors-opener Quote USA may have run away with the game, but there were signs in the opening 40 minutes that the defense has some work to do. Germany got a few good looks in transition and off of turnovers, including the second goal that arguably should have been overturned for offside. The fourth goal Germany scored came directly off of a turnover by a U.S. defenseman coming out of their zone. There just wasn’t a lot of sharpness from Team USA’s defense and if that persists against better teams, they’re going to have problems. USA’s defensive depth was always a concern coming into this tournament and the first game did little to dissuade that notion. Emery should be on this team and playing top 4 minutes. Instead, Team USA is going to have to rely on Buium and Hutson to play a ton of minutes, as outside of those two, there's not a ton of depth. A shutdown dman like Emery would have paired well with two offensive dmen like those two. If those two dmen start to get fatigued later in the tourney, the US is gonna be in trouble. Quote
sioux rube Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Latvia giving Canada all they can handle. 1-0 Canada with 10 to go Quote

No way are there 8 better defensemen than Emery. 4? probably 8? no. Quote

Wilbur Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Now the USA needs to make a point and beat Latvia like 8-1. Latvia just won their superbowl, overwhelm them early and don't let them hang around. Quote
