SiouxFan100 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 What caused the skipped passes by Simon. Is it his footwork? A confidence issue? Correctable Quote

UNDColorado Posted September 17 Posted September 17 It really doesn't matter who the QB is. Someone on this forum will throw a fit. Also, if Jerry doesn't see quality time this week and next week then I have some serious questions. 2 Quote
Kab Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Is bubba afraid Jerry would be better than Romfo and create a QB controversy 1 Quote

Correctable I'm no expert, but it looked to me like he was pulling the ball down by jerking his shoulder down during those throws. The ones where he wasn't trying to throw a fast ball were the ones he placed well. Quote
homer Posted September 17 Posted September 17 3 minutes ago, Kab said: Is bubba afraid Jerry would be better than Romfo and create a QB controversy I think they evaluated that during spring ball and fall camp. As someone said earlier they may just be working to get Romfo reps that will benefit him as the season moves along. or maybe your thought is why? Quote

We need to break them in the first half and get dudes valuable reps. We’re a super young team so it’s been nice to have 3 easier games to work guys in. But yea if Jerry doesn’t get meaningful time I will turn into a Pakistani cricket fan real quick. 2 2 Quote

Correctable aim both your feet at the goalposts....have all you weight on your back foot and try to throw a football 15 yards (quickly) towards the sideline using pretty much only your shoulder..... not good. Kab Posted September 17 Posted September 17 99% of us aren’t at practice to see how players are playing i hope all the backups get some reps the next couple of games sooner or later some of those players will need to fill in I’m. not pro Romfo or Jerry, I would like to be able to compare the 2 after seeing them both play meaningful game time 1 1 Quote

Exactly. He's now played 12 quarters of football as a starter after not seeing much for meaningful reps since 2020. Letting him work on things, with some of the pressure off, plus the ability to put more things on film are important. Showing teams that stacking the box isn't going to stop the offense will keep things opened up for the stable of RB's we have down the road. It was clear we expected ISU to sell out to stop the run, and with 6-8 guys in the box most of the game, they were doing just that. Very encouraging to see the OC and the offense respond. Having the defense step up the way they did was a nice cherry on top. Now, getting the backups some extra reps to have them game ready the next two weeks should be focus. Get up early and put the game in that spot. Everyone is saying the right things about focusing on the next week and not overlooking anyone, let's hope the execution is there. 1 1 Quote
forksandspoons Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I think Romfo's arm is stronger than we've seen. If you watch his HS film, he's making some pretty long throws on the run. To my very amateur eye, when he short hops throws, it's because he doesn't get his feet set or he's rushes it just a bit. I think we need to get him throwing on the move a bit more until he's more comfortable passing with his feet set. 1 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Having watched his 12 quarters/3 games I'd say his arm strength at best is FCS average and his accuracy is below average. Now I'm not privy to "practice" and his HS film is irrelevant against the likes of Rugby and Bottineau. He's the guy moving forward. Bubba isn't going to deviate from him. He'll hopefully improve. October 5 will give insight into what is in-store for the remainder of the season. He definitely can run. He isn't a 35+ passes a game QB. Get him in some ROP and play to his strengths. 1 1 Quote

90siouxfan Posted September 17 Posted September 17 It seems the common take on Simon's issues, other than the Hedburg on a Bicycle guru wannabe, is he is rushing things, impatient, and learning the level he is at... I don't even know where a Holiday Inn is anymore, so is my take accurate. 1 Quote
