To round out the 2024 ND HS Hockey Schedule:

MONDAY (no boys games)

Girls: Minot at Legacy-Bismarck

Girls: Mandan at Jamestown

Girls: North at Devils Lake

TUESDAY (no girls games)

Boys: Davies at RR

Boys: Sheyenne at GFC

Jay girls gave Mandan everything they had but came up short 1-0. Man they had 2 great chances in the last 5 minutes to tie it up

You've got:  Minot North, Minot High, Our Redeemers, Bishop Ryan, South Prairie, Nedrose.......I think.  Minimal kids from the private schools, but a few.

Mandan 1-0 over Jamestown

North 8-0 over DL

Minot 4-2 over Legacy.  Minot on a 5 game heater after dropping the first 5 of the season.

But in reality, it's not even about high schools it's the youth program numbers that matter, but if they have the numbers to field a Jr Gold and still have players who want to play but can't, that's absurd in the participation era of ND High school athletics to not field at the very least a North High JV squad this year, or last year to get the program rolling.

My understanding is that there were about 35 kids trying out for the one Jr. Gold team and the intentional was to keep about 25 of them.  There should have been two High School teams this year.

They could easily split numbers wise.  Issue perhaps is, where do kids go to school?  I believe Minot "grandfathered" kids into schools.  They've have to take the North/High boundary map and draw it as a hard line. 

Minot boys, WF girls.  Rip the band aid off.

With the number of kids on the Jr. Gold team on the boys side I've got to assume Minot North hockey will be a reality next year.  I counted 28 kids rostered on the Wolves site. 

 It puts the onus on the youth program as well to start doing the right thing and start creating multiple A teams at each level to get more kids playing A competition each year.  Kind of upsetting to see that they don't have a AA bantam team this year.  In my opinion then you bring the B1 kids up and create two A teams as even as possible to make that high school transition a bit smoother.

Minot has flip flopped from AA to A in bantams more than once. It's all about winning up there. If they go with just an A team then make to A teams. My bantam team this year was offered to go B1. I said absolutely not. Yes we are struggling right now but the boys are getting better playing tougher competition. The year we win state A peewee tourney the following year we won 2 games. Just how it happens here with the lack of numbers at times. I had a whopping 22 bantams this year to make 2 teams

If Minot can get away with this, then I suggest Grand Forks merge the Central and Red River boys teams into the Knightriders.

I watched Minot's squirts play Edina last year at the squirt A international.  I think they had 10 total kids on the team and one team entered.  Edina had 15 kids and multiple teams (3 I think) entered.  Edina could have made a super team and just walked everyone, but development for later on is more important to their program in the long run.

As a Minot alum of many moons ago it's frustrating to watch it play out.  Minot North is a reality, and you've got to be proactive at the youth level to ensure both teams have the tools to be competitive.

When this Minot High group of Seniors was in Bantams, Morelli moved up to HS as a Freshman.  So Minot decided they'd get killed in AA hockey and opted to play Bantam A (someone correct me if I'm wrong).  Doesn't look like it really affected their development, does it?  Geography and AA hockey in central to western North Dakota is a joke...put the egos away and do it right.   I'd rather see 3 A teams and 2 B1 teams at PW and Bantams in Bismarck for example.  Minot should easily have 2  teams in PW and Bantams.

Yeah I don't buy that, they have some good hockey players there, and good coaching.

just struggling with D and just didn't have a goalie ready when the others took off... which is baffling that they thought they should leave but..

I wouldn't count out Red River in EDC or State.

Outside of Bydal they have no other forwards who can score.  Gotten a lot of production from their D.  GFC has also gotten the bulk of the Bantam AA kids the last few years and will after this year as well.  GFC could win 2-3 in a row.

been out of NoDak for awhile...what is team ND that competes to play for USA Hockey championships?  Who puts that together?

NDAHA runs the Team ND program.

They compete for the Northern Plains District slots at the USA Hockey championships at the Tier 1 (AAA) level 14U-15Only-16U and have development teams at the Tier 2 or (AA) level. 13U-18U
