I dont think so, its called recreational hockey at that point.

but what was the rational for splitting into 2 if the "it isn't fair" crowd wasn't the loudest?

I don't like Jess' logic there...it presupposes the objective is purely to get to State as opposed to playing commensurate competition to go to State.  Roseau's pride is enormous (rightfully so) in hockey, so its a very bitter pill to swallow playing class A.

Remember when the two class system began in 1994 Roseau played class A. A few years of losing to Warroad and they moved up to AA (not a single Roseau resident/fan will ever admit that being the reason although it certainly worked out pretty well for them as I played against that loaded 1999 team that won and they got another in 2007).

true...but it might be good for those cake eaters to travel to Brrmidji and see that there is more to Minnesota than the Metro area.

but how attractive is it for two teams to play a game on wed at noon in front of ___________ fans versus a packed amsoil arena on a thurs/friday/sat evenening?

The ultimate dream for any kid growing up in Minnesota playing hockey! I don't think there is one kid that would ever vote to move the state tourney out of St. Paul.

For 25% of the kids that make the state tournament.

I was a volunteer assistant with a girls bb team last year that played in the MN state tournament.  The pre-tourney banquet for all the teams, the fun of playing in the big venue (Williams Arena), being in the tunnels and using the UM locker rooms,  using the bench there were all part of the excitement. We had decent crowds for early rounds and a good crowd for the finals. Part of the experience was feeling like we were playing in something big.  It wouldn’t have been the same at St Cloud St or Concordia St Paul.

Not if you're from Rhame, Kemare, Enderlin and I could go on and on.

My uncle is from Roseau. He insists they are where they belong and says Warroad is lame for not doing it.

If you believe you are the best, you want to be measured against the best.

I haven't heard of Rhame but Enderlin is over between Lisbon and Casselton.

I mean they won when I was in high school. I am sure they need the stars aligned to do it but that's the way it is for most teams.

I look at them the way I look at Lisbon or Napoleon in wrestling. When things are going well for them they can compete with the best teams in Class A. Not going to win very often but their best teams can.

You've never even HEARD of it? Rhame is epic

Side note, I think all North Dakotans should travel to every corner of the state at one point in their lives. There is a lot more variety and uniqueness across the state that most don't realize. I'm looking at your Fargoians...the road does in fact continue west past Mapleton :D

Oh I've been all over! I'm a Jamestown guy. Fargo people do seem to think the world ends around Casselton.

If it's north of Harwood, south of Horace, west of Casselton and east of the Red River of the North, the good people of Fargo don't know about it or even care.

PS: I know there are exceptions to this rule, some of whom post on this forum

Actually lived in boxcars on the railroad when my crew worked the tracks there back in the early 80's. Yes we lived on cars that each one has 8 bunks beds and 8 lockers. 80 man crews some wild stuff went on. Those small town bars loved our money though

Roseau is making a mistake.  And half the community is ready to move back.  Problem is, they’ll struggle to win at A for a long time as well.  Section rivals with Moorhead, Sartell, Buffalo?  WTF.

could be playing conference games and section 8 playoffs with Warroad, EGF, TRF instead.

Are the numbers down in Roseau?

Numbers and skill aren’t there.

Neither are they for Warroad but they have MW to lean on to bring in imports. Their girls team alone had what 3-4 ND girls this season? 4-5 last year?
