siouxweet Posted Sunday at 01:25 AM Posted Sunday at 01:25 AM This squad is offensively challenged. They get shots but a lot aren't of the dangerous variety. Really lacks finishers outside of #9. Quote
brianvf Posted Sunday at 05:48 PM Posted Sunday at 05:48 PM Congrats to Monty on getting an A with Zmolek out: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/dane-montgomery-introduced-as-alternate-captain-before-exhibition-win?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0_rVLYM2vPPXq2sZk4M3GqAF-sLXoZRByGIz5SjE18fIwMLEnm6b-tKZE_aem_zUo44JFnMO25PujxxWyN5A Quote UND coach Brad Berry had a surprise for his team after Saturday's 9 a.m. video session. He grabbed Dane Montgomery's No. 5 jersey and held it up. It had an 'A' on the chest for alternate captain. "Our guys lit right up," UND coach Brad Berry said. "They were so excited about that. They were cheering for him, because he's just a great individual, a great human." With alternate captain Bennett Zmolek out for the season with a lower-body injury, UND has awarded Montgomery an 'A.' Quote "Pretty special feeling," Montgomery said. "Pretty awesome. Pretty cool to see everyone's reaction in the room there. I got a lot of congratulations. It's pretty special to have teammates like that who love and care about you." There are now three North Dakota natives serving as alternate captains for UND this season. The other two are Jackson Kunz of Grand Forks and Cameron Berg of West Fargo. Quote "I thought, in my mind, that if there's ever a guy that could replace Bennett Zmolek's with great leadership qualities, it's Dane Montgomery," Berry said. "He's a guy that does the right things coming to the rink day in and day out, not promised anything, earns everything, plays every situation they ask him to. He typifies what North Dakota hockey is." 1 Quote

He couldn’t have been happier for his brother’s success and achievements. Just a very awesome conversation and to have heard that from him. Proud of both Montgomery boys and the success they are having with their respective programs. Good to see Grand Forks represented and gave me the warm fuzzies to hear the CC PA announcer say, “A sophomore from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Drew Montgomery!” during the starting lineups last night. 5 Quote
