siouxweet Posted January 5 Posted January 5 This squad is offensively challenged. They get shots but a lot aren't of the dangerous variety. Really lacks finishers outside of #9. Quote
brianvf Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Congrats to Monty on getting an A with Zmolek out: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/dane-montgomery-introduced-as-alternate-captain-before-exhibition-win?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0_rVLYM2vPPXq2sZk4M3GqAF-sLXoZRByGIz5SjE18fIwMLEnm6b-tKZE_aem_zUo44JFnMO25PujxxWyN5A Quote UND coach Brad Berry had a surprise for his team after Saturday's 9 a.m. video session. He grabbed Dane Montgomery's No. 5 jersey and held it up. It had an 'A' on the chest for alternate captain. "Our guys lit right up," UND coach Brad Berry said. "They were so excited about that. They were cheering for him, because he's just a great individual, a great human." With alternate captain Bennett Zmolek out for the season with a lower-body injury, UND has awarded Montgomery an 'A.' Quote "Pretty special feeling," Montgomery said. "Pretty awesome. Pretty cool to see everyone's reaction in the room there. I got a lot of congratulations. It's pretty special to have teammates like that who love and care about you." There are now three North Dakota natives serving as alternate captains for UND this season. The other two are Jackson Kunz of Grand Forks and Cameron Berg of West Fargo. Quote "I thought, in my mind, that if there's ever a guy that could replace Bennett Zmolek's with great leadership qualities, it's Dane Montgomery," Berry said. "He's a guy that does the right things coming to the rink day in and day out, not promised anything, earns everything, plays every situation they ask him to. He typifies what North Dakota hockey is." 1 Quote

He couldn’t have been happier for his brother’s success and achievements. Just a very awesome conversation and to have heard that from him. Proud of both Montgomery boys and the success they are having with their respective programs. Good to see Grand Forks represented and gave me the warm fuzzies to hear the CC PA announcer say, “A sophomore from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Drew Montgomery!” during the starting lineups last night. 7 Quote
cberkas Posted January 8 Posted January 8 So, UND was going to be in the Ice Breaker in Tempe next year, but because of ASU joining the NCHC they replaced UND with another team. Quote
cberkas Posted January 10 Posted January 10 If the Miami game that was won under a minute, if UND won in OT they would have dropped 5 sports in the PWR. Quote
cberkas Posted January 11 Posted January 11 UND should never use the portal again. If you need players do the job and recruit. The portal is for the bottom feeders not UND have pride and real North Dakota Culture. 2 Quote

Also go back to developing goalies instead of continually grabbing rentals. I’m not going to blame Hedquist one bit if he jumps ship from this dumpster fire at end of the season. 2 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Not sure the portal is the problem -maybe player assessment is 1 Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 11 Posted January 11 But Berry said they were focusing on the playoffs this year #culture Quote

They are trying to make plays that make espn top 10. And they fail. Quote

I wish we got TJ two years ago and not blaming him. The problem is going after guy that put up big numbers in the AHA 1 Quote

brianvf Posted January 11 Posted January 11 This team has really laid some nice turds in some really crucial games this season. Unfortunately it'll prevent them from making the NCAA's. You turn 2-3 of those games around and it's a different story. But, as it is, looks like we'll be watching other teams in the Fargo regional and F4. Quote

brucespook Posted January 11 Posted January 11 ASUs top guy comes back. Not played all year. Immediate impact. Our guy comes back and takes every other shift off. 1 Quote
AJS Posted January 11 Posted January 11 This program will never be what it could be or what it once was with this coaching staff. It’s as obvious as it was with the Football program. Needs to be change. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 This team is just bad offensively 5x5. Not that this move will change everything but OMac is totally out of place on the wing. .....now back to kicking my dead horse. 2 Quote
