SiouxFan100 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Dickinson is driving to the bucket and we are having trouble stopping them. No good 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Overall I thought we would be better. Somewhat disappointed with the performance but we do have a number of players that can contribute. Hopefully we put it together. Quote
shep Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Movie is looking good. Team D is not there yet. Demers needs to stay out of foul trouble Quote
ND-fan Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 I hoped they would come out play cleaner game to many turnovers, poor defense, and allowed to many offensive rebounds. I would like to see some better three point shooting. they as players need to work on getting themselves set better for theshot and if not pass on three point shot. Beal needs to work on this and second she needs to get some confidence in her shot If she can just develop one thing on offense she could play vital role on this team. Horne needs to also develop shot that she can score out of this offense. She has length to be effective for defense and rebound in the Summit. Volmer is going to just get better as season moves along I think they got top recruit here and I can’t believe that South Dakota schools didn’t get her. Ibrahim needs to work on her finishing when she is down low but I think she will just get better more she plays. Aumer, Demers, and Owen’s are pretty much developed and will fill there roles there is still room for improvement in fine tuning becoming even more effective. Schiller will see how fast she develops and how she holds up playing D I schedule as freshman. Hurst I see only limited minutes with style of play UND wants to play she looks to be further slowed by knee injury hurting her chances to play significant minutes. VanderWal will play spot minutes and if we get in foul trouble with post players. My hope we can be good enough to get to middle of the Summit and improve enough to make run in conference tournament. Sunday we will see how we will do against division I opponent and then again against Montana. Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Currently watching Wisconsin at SDSU. Yup, SDSU is good and very deep. No surprise. SDSU up by about ten after three quarters. UND announced three signings with two being 5’10 and one 5’8. Would have liked more length. 1 Quote
ND-fan Posted November 14 Author Posted November 14 I am curious how they are adding 3 signees for next year with 15 on team and all them not seniors so who is leaving or who is not on scholarship this year. Quote

Matthern is a PWO, as will be Reardon. Not sure about Hillesheim. Of the current players, the one I could see maybe having already informed the coaches that she's done after this year is VanderWal. This is her fourth year in the program, so it's quite possible she's planning to graduate in the spring. That's just a guess on my part, though. Quote
UND1983 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 once again, not long enough or physical. Look at USD and SDSU then look at our girls. Not sure why our programs on campus refuse to recruit the way they are supposed to 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Lose to Green Bay 66-63 after being ahead for much of the game. Played pretty decent with untimely turnovers at crunch time. We didn’t have a field goal for the last 4:37 of the game Green Bay started five seniors and we don’t have a senior on the team Our starters had at least 8 points but we only had five bench points Aumer and Pemberton lead the team in scoring and Pemberton had 11 rebounds we had 18 turnovers - nothing new here Schiller struggled shooting going 2-10 but we are much better when she is in the game we have some players who got minutes last year that are getting limited minutes this year so far we have some potential Quote

Would have really liked to pull this one out but was not expecting a W going in. Schiller shoots better and we are walking out with a win, but she's young and will have those games mixed in with her big ones. Alot to clean up but I think there is a ton of potential on this team as well. On to the next one. Have to remind myself this team is SO young Quote
shep Posted November 18 Posted November 18 As another poster noted, this is a team. It's not like last year with players playing for themselves. Lots of hope this year. Quote
NewUndFan Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Nice crowd yesterday. This team is definitely more fun to watch then last years. Nice having a legitimate point guard. This is only Schiller's 3rd game. I am hoping she helps us get some post recruits in. I also think the new assistant coaches are helping. Overall pleased with the direction. Quote
ND-fan Posted November 22 Author Posted November 22 No comments on the Montana game from anyone. My thoughts are I have watched UND for ever and since Brewster was head coach and Bernhard was assistant we have had to many turnovers as team. This has been downfall for UND for over a decade of basketball and coaching staff hasn’t been able to improve on this problem. Look at top team in conference South Dakota State when they have two thirds of the turnovers as we do they are not happy with there play. This has to go to coaching and only coach here for that long is Mallory so it has to do with coach not working on ball security and wanting something else in their offensive scheme to continue to have high number of turnovers. At this level of play it something shouldn’t be tolerated. Second we continue to need work on our defense being able to recover when help is needed on drive penetration . this is still better than last years team looks to be better but like mentioned we need more length and quickness. They need work on their shooting as team. Quote
shep Posted November 23 Posted November 23 You are right about the poor D on drives, the turnovers and the need for 3S. This is a young, no SR, team. It may take time. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Takeaway from the Montana game is the emergence of Abrahim. Very impressive game. hopfully Horne can step up Quote
Kab Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Better starting lineup this a year will be some growing pains Quote
