There was a good crowd last night and the program needs more of that to be successful. I know winning goes hand in hand with a program's success, but I wish UND/Betty would do more to draw fans in. With a combined ND/EGF population of 68k, it should not be hard to fill the Betty. Atmosphere changes outcomes. It was fun to watch the ND girls, their leadership and work ethic is exciting and contagious. I would hope UND does all it can to recruit talent here in it's home state. I realize that there is always that draw to play for a top school or winning program, but are we doing all we can to sway them? UND is already a top school academically. If only this basketball program could just turn the corner...the program will sell itself. Lots of Grafton fans. Got $5.00 tic if from Grafton. Happy so many showed up Quote
ND-fan Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 Played SDSU and it was close down to last two minutes but two Myers took over down the stretch and Johnson timeout to set up the two players was difference. I thought we needed timeout to settle things and give rest to our players. We played better defense but still gave up to many points to have a chance to win against this team. We still need to also work on three point shooting when we’re tired need to get our legs set and relax on our follow throughs seem liked we were rushing our shot. This is best we have played SDSU since joining the Summit but we’re still long way to go before we can definitely beat them. They still have way more talent on team and have length and quickness far deeper than we have. We need to keep recruiting better like the last two years. This is progress for us and gives us hope for strong finish to the season. 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The women have had a pretty solid January. They were within five with just over four minutes to go in the game against SDSU after getting down by twelve after one qtr. Quote
Und246 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Today’s game against SDSU was a major victory for our women’s program. Great effort. Might even be fun to watch what happens this year. 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Ndsu women had 25 turnovers in their loss to Kansas City today. Quote
NewUndFan Posted January 19 Posted January 19 So proud of the girls today ! They stayed with a very good SDSU team that always gets a few calls at home. When they got down in the second half I thought here comes the blow out. But no! They fought to the very end. Got within 5. We don't have any seniors! What we lack in talent and experience we make up for in heart. Good games ladies keep improving! 2 Quote

Pemberton, Schiller, Ibrahim, and Demers are a good nucleus of players to build a program from. Horne adds some additional length to your starting five, but that release of hers is just not good! Was hoping to get to see some minutes from Volmer. All in all I was impressed by what I saw as you gave us enough fits to move us into a zone to change the flow. Granted we stayed in it WAY too long and got stagnant on the offensive end because of it. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 It’s super early but how much of the what looks to be the start of a turnaround should be credited to Hutter? I feel like he has made an immense impact early. Quote

The team seems to play more together and is more bought in. Quote

She plays zero defense and if she isn't hitting multiple 3s total liability. This year she doesn't see the playing floor. Why the first two years did she play significant roles and this year nothing ? Guarantee coach Hutter put a end to it. If Mal saw it the first two years why did she keep playing her. Quote
ND-fan Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Rivalry weekend for UND with NDSU but now what will be game plan be for UND. I pretty much know what SU game plan will be to take advantage of their length and try to get open looks at three. They will try to out rebound us on offensive side and get us in foul trouble on inside. Und has choice of man to man pressure defense or go to match up zone force SU into trying to beat them with three where they have been his season. I think they may change up on defense depending what is having best results and to protect them from getting in foul trouble. Offensively we will need to have good afternoon from outside and then be able to push them on transition where I believe they could be vulnerable if we do it smartly. The other question will SU pressure us full court to create turnovers and trap our smaller players. We will need big games out of Demers and Ibrahim on inside and then will be if Schiller and Aumer will be able to score with length that SU will have against them. I think we will have difficult time winning Jory has gad our number and hasn’t lost to us at home. I also worry our turnover problems will return especially in hostile gym if things start going wrong. Quote

ND-fan Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 I hope that is just spin for Fargo media because at this time of the season it’s all about winning because more wins in conference sets up for better position in the conference tournament. Second yes your working on getting better but now you have to find ways to win even when your not playing Well or not playing like you would like. I am afraid if she wasn’t spinning it means they have started over Hutters system and she not comfortable with it she has reservations and why she is not sleeping at night with her ending comment about kids to Dom. This final stretch they have to perform and she knows this. Quote

Not sure I’ve heard many winning coaches say wins and losses don’t matter. In fact I think most good coaches say winning is the only thing that matters. Maybe I’m wrong 1 3 Quote

Hakstol was a master of coach-speak, but I don't think he ever said wins and losses don't matter. Neither did Blais, Roebuck, Glas or Lennon. 4 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 First quarter observations... UND is a bad BB team Demers is a defensive liability Can't run an offensive every set from 20' out Schiller looks frustrated but she plays so hard Quote
